That the Spurs can't dominate a playoff team on the road when only two players on the team can hit the broad side of a barn. Huge takeaway in late November tbh.
Noteworthy that the Spurs worst loss of last season was at Chicago. We knew this would be a tough one to get. tbh.

I think this confidence is coming from the beating we gave gsw in our last meeting with them last season. This is a new season though and they are playing incredible. They'd likely beat the crap out of us right now.
Also, wasn't that game meaningless for them? Hadn't they locked 1st seed overall by then.

Yeah it was. I think some people are being a little too over confident.

Very early in the season though. It seems like we've been here before, Spurs annual slow start. Then come the end of the regular season the Spurs will be clicking, and hitting all cylinders. I seriously doubt the Warriors will be on this huge run of they'res til then. They will tire eventually and come back down to earth. The Spurs aren't 5 times champs for nothing, they know what it's about, and they'll be ready?

This season's going great for both teams, and I think this is the match up that most true basketball fans really want so all we can do is wait and see how things look heading into the playoffs. I can't imagine any San Antonio fan at the beginning of the season saying they wouldn't be thrilled with a 14-4 start.

Spurs combination of Leonard/Green wing defense and their Duncan/Aldridge front court size could give them problems. But right now Golden State is the favorite until proven otherwise.

I think the Spurs 3-pt shooting will come around when Mills and Green get hot. And I don't know why that wouldn't happen

If Aldridge and West start jacking up 3pt shots, then I think Spurs have a chance against GS.

They probably are, but how about people wait until they beat someone worth a damn in the playoffs before crowning them?

When the Spurs were running roughshod over the league from '11-'14, people wanted to see them do it against the elite, in the playoffs, before singing their praises. Even then, it took literally the greatest Finals performance of all-time for them to receive their due. It took these assholes about five minutes into last season to get that same respect and now they've eclipsed it, in 17 less years.

Even if they are, I'll never understand this fan bases obsession with bowing at the feet of other elite teams. You'd think an organization this accomplished would have fans that don't take a back seat to anybody.

Honestly, how many games have the Warriors played where teams have missed key players. Cousins, Al Jef, Rose, etc?

haha we're good, but given history- you guys are still the pats. we're...idk, the warriors? can't think of an analogy. have to keep in perspective our dominance is only 2 seasons young

Yet, despite all that, we've done pretty well so far. I think this team has a high ceiling. It's a process and we're not there yet. There's no familiarity, the offense is a work in progress, etc. Of course, it will take our designated shooters to make more shots than they've been making, and players generally understanding what we are running, where they need to be at all times, etc. Some of our kids are going to have to grow up, and they're going to make mistakes in the process.

Frankly, I have very little to complain about when it comes to the defense. Despite some lows in certain games or stretches, I think that's the one thing they've done very well, and it would be simply amazing if they can further improve it.

This is a very different team from years past, where everyone knew each other and we knew what kind of basketball we were playing. It was easier to hit the ground running when the season started back then (then again, we started 17-4 in '13-'14, a mark this team can match). Even on those years, we would lose games all the time to teams like the Bucks.

We all knew going into this season that it was going to be a long process and we were going to need to have patience. I thought so far they've performed above expectations. We're on pace to win 64 games, and you know the team can get better (saving a key injury). There's going to be some tough losses on the way, and hopefully some solid wins further down the road.

Now, if you're going to compare to the Dubs right now, then you're setting yourself up for disappointment. They do have the familiarity of last season, and what they're doing right now is historical in the NBA. All you can hope for is that they slow down. It's a long season, a lot of things can happen between now and April, and you just have to keep getting better and hopefully build something special to battle with in the Playoffs.
I am with you Nono, more so than ever after seeing Pop coaching the young guys in the past few games, which we didn't see very early in the season as Pop was super strict and going to 8-9 man rotations (even West was playing 8 mins for Christ's sake). We knew that wasn't going to last, and its finally here. We are really seeing the team come together better, and even new guys that we didn't see very early are contributing to wins.

Like you said, the team has a high ceiling. We hit the season out of rhythm with guys not knowing what they were doing, and what the team really wanted to do offensively this year. When even Tim said he wans't sure about his role, you know we had issues offensively and it showed.

    Despite that, we are winning.

On top of that for the first time in a while, we have young guys in the bench that can play. Like you say, we have kids in our bench that will go through growing pains during the season. Sometimes they will get pulled, mess up or whatever, but with as much small ball as the league is playing I don't discount either Simmons or Anderson playing with more regularity. The reason, for small ball, Anderson has been really good, better than Butler. Has to shoot the 3, and Pop has got to push him more, and Simmons is perfect for perimeter games bc of his athleticism. He adds a different dimension, and is specially good to make runs in games (what the 2nd unit likes to do.) Both have talent, but not Pop's trust yet, and are still undeveloped in some areas. Anyways, both have so far had some very good games and look like guys who can give some things to the team that it has lacked. We didn't have that in the past. We had Daye/Ayers at the end of the bench and CoJo, who turned out like a real player, but was never going to unseat Patty because Patty is a clutch shooter in playoff situations.

Anyways, I agree completely with you!

Spurs have a superior defense and the best frontline in basketball. If Leonard/Aldridge/Duncan are all playing at a high level, who's going to stop them? They will midrange jumpshot you to death, while commanding the boards and locking down the paint defensively like a ing fortress.

And then, just when you think it's over, Boris Diaw and David West check into the game...and a 7'3 giant looms on the bench.

Warriors would smoke the Spurs in a 7-game series if the playoffs started tomorrow.

Fortunately, we have 6 more months until we likely meet them in the WCF.
