    Crazy.

Also shows you how vastly underrated The Admiral is (even by today's Spurs' fans)...

Many people expected Kawhi to go among the top ten picks but his injury cost him 6, 7 or more spots in the draft...fortunately that allowed the Spurs to pick him.

Chad Ford's latest mock draft had the Kings taking him at #7

"But they were hardly the only ones aboard the Leonard bandwagon. While Felton pegged Leonard as a top-10 pick, player agent Brian Elfus was hearing his client might even crack the top five as the pre-draft process swung into full gear...But with the most career win shares and the highest Value Above Replacement Player of all 60 draftees, Leonard could very well be the best player from the 2011 draft...

Elfus Elfus blamed a minor heel injury Leonard suffered just before the draft that forced him to cancel a workout.

“He couldn’t put a lot of pressure on it, and word leaked out (it was worse than it was),” Elfus said. “I had to scramble to get him seen on draft day by an expert and get the information out to every club. We did what we could do.”

    The damage, however, was done.

As Leonard dropped out of the top 10 — Elfus expected him to go no later than Sacramento at No. 7 or Charlotte at No. 9

"Before that draft, Leonard had to slow down his workout schedule with an Achilles and ankle injury, forcing him to skip a late June session with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Between the poor shooting and those injury doubts, there was an uneasiness of teams on draft night. This gave the Spurs a chance.

Around 3 o'clock on draft day in 2011, Buford called Leonard's agent, Brian Elfus, in his New York hotel room. San Antonio had done a thorough job of scouting and researching Leonard, but this was the first time Elfus had heard directly from Buford on him. He had been projected too high of a draft pick for the Spurs to be able to bring him into town for a workout."

    Agree.
Heel injury as a legit excuse to pass on KL? Not buying it. GMs were stupid to pass on this guy. TBF, one of the deepest drafts we've seen and KL has Surpassed expectations. But for that many to sleep on him says something, anyways.
