i think butler has been on the bench just absorbing the system and being kept intact since he is too old and might get injured.
Yup. Spurs taking lessons from his play with the Wizards. With the Wizards he ran out of gas mid season.

Butler is a decent sized SF with athleticism and a 3 point shot. He's actually much better than Green in penetrating into the paint. He'll be crucial against small ball lineups.

Is your money on Butler being on a playoff roster? We know barring injury that two of Red Rocket, Ralph, and Black Ollie won't be on the playoff roster.

And as to the player you inference, he shall be leading to the Jimmerbockers to a playoff spot.
Yes, I expect him to be on the playoff roster. He's not getting cut.

Butler not only will be on the playoff roster ahead of Bonner and Ray, but would be there ahead of Kyle and perhaps even Boban (all will dress as they can play 13).

Good chance he won't even be on the playoff roster, tbh.

You keep using this playoff roster thing.

I don't think you know what it means.

I didn't even know Bonner still played for the Spurs, and all Ray's good for is turnovers and missed lay-ups. It's obvious Butler is going to be on the playoffs roster and getting decent PT.

He's been an underrated player for SA. Pop has given Anderson/Simmons a lot of development time this season but I think in the playoffs he will trust Butler more with those minutes and unlike the other two we know what we're getting. I've always liked his game, wished Spurs could have had him on the bench years ago. He's not an x factor or anything but he will be valuable against teams like GS and OKC and will allow the Spurs some versatility as well as someone competent to give Leonard a breather

I think you're right. And even when Kawhi (and Manu) come back you're still going to Butler have more time on the court as the Spurs ramp up for the playoffs. It was all about not using the old guy up in the first half of the season and seeing what Kyle and Simmons had to give the Spurs.

OP with a massively moronic take too though. butler isn't a secret weapon he's a just solid role player off the bench.

Who? Did Jimmer buy an ABL team with the money he fleeced the Spurs out of?

Do Spurs get any credit on Jimmer's salary now that the Knicks have signed him to a ten day? Not that it matters except for Peter Holt's wallet. I doubt they do, but one of you cap experts may know better than I do.

Nope. When you waive a minimum contract, you get no offset. I'm also pretty sure that if a waived player is signed to a minimum contract, there is no offset.

Butler, Black Ollie, Bonner; two of those three won't be on the playoff roster.
