i remember how it was considered crazy that we kept our streak alive during the lockout shortened season (went 50-16)... and then you realize right now they're 50-9

It would especially unbreakable if they pro-rated the first strike year. Then you add on 2 more to the record (Timmy's rookie year, and the 99 championship) bringing it to 19. Scary thing is with Kawhi and LMA, and RC being RC, it could go on for a while longer.

Indeed. I was looking at the combined NBA/ABA list where he's only 7th (Artis Gilmore is above him in this case).
I'm not sure if the Spurs will be able to win consistently when Duncan retires. Even in this season when he doesn't play, the Spurs struggle to win games. When Kawhi doesn't play the Spurs can't keep the opponents under 100 but still win games. I think it's one of the cases when stats don't show the true impact of the player.

Spurs have been overshadowed by greater teams(Lakers and Dubs) during their run but they have been the most consistent and most well-run franchise in the NBA the past 20 years
There are legal pros utes who weren't born yet the last time the Spurs missed the Playoffs.
Rick Renner yesterday after the game said the last time the Spurs did not make the playoffs, Bill Clinton was president!
Great humble insult.Warriors overshadowing the Spurs during this run. This is the only season where the Warriors have gotten respect and attention over the spurs which is understandable. Even last year the media was calling the Warriors a fluke team. Also the Lakers were only relevant during '00-'02 and '08-'10 during this run outside of those years they were dog . The Lakers have been irrelevant since 2010 that's 6 years. Success and longevity is what gets your remembered in this league. It's the reason why the 80's showtime lakers have a greater legacy than the Shaq-Kobe lakers or the Gasol-Kobe Lakers. The '00 Lakers had the success but they didn't have the longevity. The Warriors will also not have the longevity. If they win this year they probably 3 peat but I don't see them going beyond that.
