If you abandon a team when they suck and thump your chest when they're winning, you're a bandwagon fan. That not debatable. That's different than simply not watching the team when they don't entertain you. However if you like to talk during the up times, you need to take during the down times. DD hasn't left, he's been here all along.

When your basketball team sucks, you have little room to talk...Lakers have sucked the last few years so I've piped down. I've actually set quite a good example for all fans--whom at one point or another--will find themselves in this predicament. Lead by example.

I actually see no problem with Lakers fans tuning out right now. Lakers management is basically selling them the sports version of a 1977 Pinto. It's actually insulting how lazy and cavalier Buss and Co have been since inking their Time Warner deal. Their pockets are already full, so there's no pressure on them to deliver a quality on court product. Buss will continue to milk Kobe and his star power (even when Kobe retires, a billion s and bean3rs will still religiously buy Kobe merch), while doing all with regards to scouting (worst in the NBA), analytics (worst in the NBA), and roster building (worst in the NBA). Yeah, they'll likely grab a high profile FA, but that will still fail to get the Lakers back on track. They need a total systematic rebuild from management on down. There's no quick free agent or draft pick fixes like there once was. This isn't 1990.
