"Sheehan, 48, was the first taken into custody. She smiled as she was carried to the curb, then stood up and walked to a police vehicle while protesters chanted, "The whole world is watching."

God. This woman is just sooo creepy. If I were directing a horror film about seemingly innocent people who are thinly disguised evil monsters (think Kathy Bates in Misery) I'd cast her in the lead role.

i dunno...i haven't asked them, and i'm sure they have more important things on their mind...but i will ask him when he returns home, Lord willing...

when he was here 6 months ago for a 2 week leave, he mentioned that it was still ugly over there...evil peeps burying mines in the roads and such, but he knows the media is biased...it's not all candy and roses, but it's not all bedlem and chaos...as with most things, the truth is closer to the middle, with the needle starting to point in the roses direction, slowly but surely....

I have friends in the Military who think she's an idiot. Most military personnel consider what she's doing a slap in the face. These guys are some of the most gung-ho Americans you can find. As a matter of fact, my friend Jim is pissed that he hasn't been sent to Iraq to see some combat. He's stuck in Afghanistan where stuff has died down for the most part. A majority of these guys believe in the cause they are fighting for. She's an insult.

One of my buds is over there in Baghdad right now. He thought she was an idiot when she was out protesting at Bush's ranch, but said "that's what makes America great - in most other countries someone would have shot her or cut off her head already."

If she was an idiot then when it actually looked like she was upset about her son instead of the left wing mental up she is today, I'm sure he thinks worse of her now.

BTW, this is just one more reason the Republican party will win in '08. Cindy Sheehan is basically the face of the Democratic party today.

She called Bush the the Fuhrer and the biggest terrorist of all time . Sindy also said "is America really worth dying for?" What patriotic sentiments! (When questioned about this later she said she meant Iraq...she's not believable).
Sindy has sold out her sons honor, she's sold out the American people and she and the rest of the lunatic left continues to drag the democratic party deeper into a political polarization of her party. I honestly don't believe the moderate dems can wrest control of their party from the neo-liberals which probably translates into them nominating another flake in 2008. New year, same old model.

Why is it that those to alligned with the GOP keep trying to find a singular personification of the Democratic party? I mean, for the last 18 months, I've been told that the face of the Democratic party is Michael Moore; now I'm told that it's Cindy Sheehan.

Curiously, I'm a Democrat and I know lots of Democrats, and none of us think of either of those individuals as the face of our party. And none of us spend any time trying to find one single person who is the "face" of the Republican party.

Politics is far more nuanced, even on a macro level, to think that such gross generalizations (particularly when pronounced from the opposite party) can be a monolithic view of either party.

Look, I agree with you that politics is bigger than one person, but the reality of the mainstream media is that every idea, every party, has a "face."

And right now for the face of their party the Democrats are stringing together Michael Moore and Cindy Sheehan. Whose next? Osama?

The democratic party is basically silent about dem. Sindy's antics and that silence speaks vollumes. If the Dem Party agrees with the M. Moores and Sheehans of this world and wishes to be alingned with them fine, if not, say so!
It's the equivalent of Muslim Imams and leaders maintaining silence about the Fanatical Muslim Extremsits. They are silent because they are sympathetic to their cause.

Last weekend, Karl Rove said that I was a clown and the antiwar movement was "non-existent." I wonder if the hundreds of thousands of people who showed up today to protest this war and George's failed policies know that they don't exist. It is also so incredible to me that Karl thinks that he can wish us away by saying we aren't real. Well, Karl and Co., we are real, we do exist and we are not going away until this illegal and immoral occupation of Iraq is over and you are sent back to the depths of whatever slimy, dark, and loathsome place you came from. I may be a clown Karl, but you are about to be indicted. You also preside over one of the biggest three ring, malevolent circuses of all time: the Bush administration.

The rally today was overwhelming and powerful. The reports that I was arrested today were obviously false. The peace rally was mostly very peaceful. Washington, DC was filled with energetic and proud Americans who came from all over to raise their voices in unison against the criminals who run our government and their disastrous policies that are making our nation more vulnerable to all kinds of attacks (natural and "Bush" made disasters).

I led the march for peace alongside such venerable activists as the Reverends Al Sharpton, Bob Edgars, and Jesse Jackson, Jr., and Julian Bond. Two of our Congresswomen with cojones from California: Barbara Lee and Lynn Woolsey also led the march.

Many people told me thank you for coming. I want to tell America "thank you!!" At the Camp Casey reunion this evening, I was so overcome with emotion and gra ude that I wanted to hug every citizen of this country. We in the Camp Casey movement are so proud and thrilled that America showed up in such great numbers.

So much happened today! I am exhausted but very content. I am again filled with a renewed sense of hope that we will get our country back and get our troops home. I was also thrilled at the number of young people who came out today. That is another great sign that the side of good is winning.

With the Reverends, we stopped in front of the White House and said a prayer. After the prayer, I said that we are light and they are darkness. Darkness can NEVER overcome the light, ever. As long as there is one spark, the darkness has lost. We will prevail, we will be victorious. The darkness has lost because our beacons of peace and truth are shining for the entire world to see. And it is a very pretty sight. Take that Karl.
    Cindy Sheehan, Huffington Post

The political winds are a changing. It used to be people used to automatically buy into KKKarl Rove's smear campaign no matter the cause. O'Neil and Wilson are perfect examples, but now, the more Rove and Co try and marginalize Cindy Sheehan and the anti-war movement as nothing but fringe leftist, the more they marginalize themselves as the fringe radical right in the process. People aren't buying the lies anymore.

You sir are one of the biggest RACISTS i've ever seen. Get a mirror and Recognize.

let me let you ALL in on a little secret. i may not agree with Mrs. Sheenan's viewpoints, but i know WHY she is doing what she is.

FACT IS, SHE FAILED HER SON AS A MOTHER, and now that he is gone, this is the ONLY WAY she can make herself feel better about her failures...all this isn't for her son...it's for her...it's the only way she can sleep at night...it's self therapy, and it's inward hatred directed outward at the easiest target...and I think we all know who that is.

, we've been inundated with Bush hate for 6 years now...it's BIG BUSINESS NOW...BUSH HATE SELLS PAPERS, MAGAZINE, RECORDS (GREEN DAY), MOVIES, ETC, ETC, ETC...makes the libs feel all warm and fuzzy to hate...makes them feel like they are actually doing something...and they wonder what the problem is...what ing nerve they have...IT'S THEM!!!

Or, maybe she really doesn't buy into the dynamic rationale the President keeps using as a noble cause for this war. Doesn't a grieving mother deserve to know why her son had to die? Wouldn't it help bring her closure?

Did Cindy Sheehan call the Iraqi Insurgents freedom fighters?

    Read the entire quote:

"But now that we have decimated the country, the borders are open, freedom fighters from other countries are going in, and have created more terrorism by going to an Islamic country, devastating the country and killing innocent people in that country. The terrorism is growing and people who never thought of being car bombers or suicide bombers are now doing it because they want the United States of America out of their country."
    WorldNetDaily

If you look at the context, Cindy doesn't JUST call them "freedom fighters" - she also calls what they are doing "terrorism". Between the lines, Cindy is illustrating the concept that one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.

But of course, discussing the chaotic complexities doesn't serve the agenda of the PRO-WAR political pundits, so they take what she said out of context, spin it, and serve it on a platter in an attempt to label her a "nutcase" or "anti-american".

If it works on you, then you might want to check your thinking skills, because it is only designed to work against shallow thinkers.

okay, thanks for the freebie man...

i will not defend Rove at this time, because quite honestly, i'm ignorant about the man, his history, and his current actions...so i'll give you that one...i just don't like kkk thrown about liberally (no pun intended).

Or, maybe she really doesn't buy into the dynamic rationale the President keeps using as a noble cause for this war. Doesn't a grieving mother deserve to know why her son had to die? Wouldn't it help bring her closure?
it's not dynamic. yeah, the weapons were bull , and that was a collossal up, but the reason has been the same since then...to liberate the iraqi people, to bring peace and stability to the middle east, and yeah, to secure ourselves a piece of the oil pie and have a tactical stronghold if needed, right in the lions den of the middle east. maybe if we can have relations with iraq, then corrupt relations with the saudis can cease and desist....

as for this greiving mother, i'll give her a pass...i cannot pretend to know what it is like to lose a child...and sure, she has a right to disagree, it's America after all...but her son died for His Country. for the reasons stated above...and who chose to serve his country? He did. She needs to snap to the fact. THAT, would help her with closure...as well as forgiving Herself, for any missteps She may have taken along the way...nobody is perfect, and without knowing him, I can say I respect and have love for ANY man or woman that gives their lives serving there country...Godbless him.

without admittedly, knowing all the facts myself, I can agree that I THINK the borders are a mess...both here and in iraq. That needs to be fixed and for that, I hold GW accountable. Whatever is broke in that regard...FIX IT GW! And many of us conservatives are no more pro-war than liberals are pro-abortion. This war is about saving lives. American, Afghan, and Iraqi.

Blood is spilled on the way...mostly the blood of the bad guys...Godbless the innocents. It is always darkest before the dawn.
