Seems like the positive reviews are coming from two places...the feminist crowd and the people who are worried about being lumped in with those who have been ting on this movie for months(hence the "wasn't great but didn't suck" cop out).

LOL this thread. I don't know what's dumber....guys whining about icky girls in a remake of a silly childhood icon or the crybaby accusations of feminism over something that has nothing to do with feminism. "Men" these days![]()
Everyone has been pretty level headed in this thread in their criticism. What are you even talking about? There's nothing wrong with liking the original, or being disappointed in the quality of the reboot. It's not making anyone rage. It sucked; everyone is moving on.
okay
Interesting, btw, that you only take issue with my comment, when it's the only one in this thread that addresses the point the OP himself made![]()
i might take my niece to see it this weekend if i can find some time.
today's women
For what it's worth, I think that guy is wrong. The whole "I don't like it because women" seems to exist more in rhetoric than reality, but some people have really dug their heels in on it and developed some eye rolling dimestore psychology around it.
MOVIE OF THE YEAR
Pretty average comedy. 6/10. Worth seeing, probably no repeat viewings though.
I don't really gaf that it's women in the reboot, but that they're physicists studying the paranormal in the preview made me want to ing puke. That and the fat and the black one.
Speaking of Ghostbusters, wackest mixtape ever:
Going to watch it today. Not expecting much. Just need to prove to myself that I ain't afraid of no ghosts
It made 46 million this weekend. Wow
Watched it. Give it a solid C+/B-. It was funny, but not as good as the original. Good summer flick. Thor gets all the big laughs though

Not a good sign when a movie named Pets is having more success.
Thought it was good. Went in with low expectations and as a fun summer popcorn flick, it worked.
Theater was full, btw.
I just don't find any of the actresses funny. I would equally hate if the reboot starred Will Ferrell, zach galifinakis, seth rogen, and some other ty actor.
May not spend money in the theater but will check it out when a solid copy is out to DL. I think we'll wait to check out Star Trek this weekend.
I'm a little worn out on the style of comedy that goes:
Mediocre punchline >> Let's follow up on that punchline until it gets awkward >> Awkwardness becomes the new punchline.
It was funny in Anchorman, but it's basically become the standard now.
I thought it was funny. Wasn't funniest ever, didn't suck, but it made me laugh steadily throughout.
I thought the cameos were fun too.
For anyone on the fence:
Kristen and Melissa play very toned down versions of their normal movie selves. They're the straight gals. It's McKinnon and the big black chick that are the eccentric loud crazy ones. So it's not like 4 crazy loud girls all at once.
I thought their characters were balanced.
The only thing about all this ghostbusters hype is it reminded me to rewatch the original because I havent seen it in forever. Im not interested in this new version tbh...
