He never had a shot at MVP, not sure why today would have lost him DPOY.

Only reason he doesn't win it is to make up for Draymond not winning last season.

All the awards are going to the Warriors because they will get 73 wins. Simple as that. Kawhi deserves DPOY because of the entire season and for the Spurs having the best defense though.

How would he "win" DPOTY when he doesnt even have the best "d-rating" on the Spurs?
I keep hearing about it's a better metric for viewing defensive contributions better than defensive wins hare ...
..and of course better than the eye test ...so how can we say KL should win?

Me personally I dont see how KL is not the best defender on the best defense in the NBA ...but that "advanced stat" says otherwise.

DRtg sucks for perimeter defenders, but it hurts Kawhi about as little as it ever will hurt perimeter players. But it's hard to put guys like Tim above him when he's not matchup-proof and when he doesn't play a lot of minutes.

Like I said before it's a useless award. The benefit of this award is that you are supposed to be able to get away with more stuff on defense when it comes to fouls but Kawhi didn't get that benefit.

As much as he has improved this season, he still have long way to go to come near Timmy "get-on-my-back-I'm-taking-us-home" big game performances when needed..

He's more Pippen than Jorn. He isn't going to be scoring 55 but more like put up a 30/20/5/5/5 line.
