Temple of the Dog.![]()
I think Manny may want to set you straight on that![]()
It isn't fair to say Pearl Jam was more talented than Nirvana. I can't compare the 2 and by making me do so you cause me great great pain. In all honesty, I probably do give the edge to Pearl Jam as a band.
Nirvana was incredible and to say the only reason Kurt was famouse was because he was killed by Courtney Love is foolish. Now, if you want to use his murder as a reason why Courtney Love is still famouse, then by all means feel free to do so.
Whether Kurt intended his songs to be what comes across to many people is debateable as well, but they still kick ass. He was flat out just an awesome song writer and I put him way beyond Eddie Vedder, but Eddie Vedder doesn't write all of Pearl Jams music alone.
That being said, I think if Grohl and Cobain had more time together, it would have been phenomenal. The best ones always go too fast.
I think the band that is underrated is the Foo Fighters. Dave Grohl proved he can make his own band and had great success doing so. Other than his first cd he has been great. Foo Fighters>Nirvana imo.
I agree with MannyIsGod on not being able to compare any of those bands. They have varying degrees of greatness and only one of those 3 is still making music under the same name. Pearl Jam will probably go into the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame if the hold on to their core.
You forgot VS. and Vitalogy! The first three including the latter and Ten are what I grew up with. Immortality on Vitalogy and Black on Ten are my favorite Pearl Jam songs.
Black is flat out phenomenal.
Nirvana is dead. STP is dead. Pearl Jam lives on and on and on.
It's not even close.
Glorified version of a pellet gun.
I'm not really into either band, but Im a big fan of Scott Weyland.
I've been listening to Purple for 2 days now because of this thread. Good .
I think Purple is a very underrated album. That cd is much better than Core their debut album.
I know, i had someone whip me with a bamboo cane after i remembered I forgot to put those on there. You forgot VS. and Vitalogy
Vs with the freaky ass Sheep on the front is fantastic.
STP's first album made me go damn these guys rock
STP's second album made me go, okay, they're still good
when i heard STP's third album i had a blank stare of disbelief for a while then threw that out my car window as soon as possible
-------
that is an actual quote from a guy i used to know, that i pretty much agree with
Pearl Jam owns STP. Vedder is a ing hard ass, not a flamer that wears leather coochie-cutters. Plus, they've rolled with the times.
Although they do have some bad ones. Personally, I thought Vitalogy sucked and The Better Man was the gayest PJ song of all time. But Yield ing rocked hard, and the few songs I've heard of their latest 2 or 3 releases have been good.
Pearl Jam and STP have one thing in common. They both sucked after their first 2 albums.
Ten was ing amazing, but Yeild is a close second. I agree on Better Man, I don't like it much. Alive, Black, and Do The Evolution are so bad ass though.
Alive is a bad ass classic, but for the past few years, I've found that my favorite song on Ten is "Porch"
(if this isn't on ten, then my bad cuz im not positive)
The first time i heard that song was when i was like in 5th grade watching SNL lol. Do The Evolution is probably one of the best songs of all time. And the Video? Damn, that was bad.
Oh dude, that video is probably my favorite of all time. The animation was unreal.
I wish McFarlane still made the Spawn show and it came out on adult swim or some . That show was bad ass too, except they never showed Spawn shooting that green from his hands.
