Actually that's one way to look at it. Another, and probably more parsimonious is that players who have incentive to play do better than players who don't. That's why the Spurs only lost 1 game at home this season and what, 16 on the road? Guys want to win in front of their fans. On the road they are both tired from travel, weird sleeping arrangements and they are in a hostile environment.
