How about getting rid of preseason & back to backs. Just start it a half month earlier
What's that povertyball league that if you finish last you go to the "D-League". The only way to get back to the big time is to win the "D-League"?
That'll stop tanking...

That's actually a very interesting idea.
If the NBA wants a better product, stopping tanking and abolishing the conferences are their best options. A shortened season won't happen, to much money will be lost.
reduce games
would they reduce pay packet also?
I still don't know the exact league. Just saw the other day that this team finished last, got back to the "big leagues", then actually won it this year. They had 5000-1 odds, and they were spotlighting some guy who actually bet 10 dollars on them. They're were also mentioning things you could bet on that were 5000-1 odds. You can bet right now that if Elvis is found alive (you can actually bet on that)....that is a 5000-1. In comparison, Tyson vs. Douglas (the biggest underdog/upset in boxing) had 50-1 odds.
Co sign
It will never ever happen. I don't think it even happens in any American sport. Tbh, the whole salary and contracts thing would have the change dramatically.
Yeah that's what I meant
Easy version:
Keep the schedule at 82. If a team plays two road games in the same city in a season, have them be on back-to-back nights. With no travel in between, the b2b isn't such a big deal. This could drastically reduce travel, especially if you make long road trips and long homestands the norm.
Hard version:
Keep the schedule the same. Expand rosters to 19-20. Each player can only appear in 66 games in the regular season, no restrictions in the playoffs. Trades don't reset this count. Only 15 players can dress for any one game.
They'll almost never have a team play in the same arena on back-to-back nights unless it's the Lakers-Clippers. Too much TV money is at stake plus a player could be einjured and thus that market will miss seeeing that player that season.
even if you have all the powerhouse teams playing more games against each other at the expense of 2 games against ty teams, those shiity teams still wont make up the disparity to get a playoff spot...
I wouldn't put it past Kobe to be suggesting fewer games just to ensure no one surpasses his stats. He is that vain.
Seriously? What stats can he maintain? durant/Lebron will pass him scoring wise barring injury and less games makes it more likely someone tops 81 and the breaks the 3 point record not less likely, he doesnt really have any other "Records" that are not Laker related ...
Disagree with purposely shortening the season. To do so will have Spur Fans trying to remove The Asterisk! from their first rang.![]()
Rent free in a completely vacant apartment.
Thread with the goods ...
What asterisk?
1999 featured a 50-game season. Your first "rang" came in 1999. Fact: 50/82=0.61. Therefore, Spurs have 4.61 rangs. The Asterisk! stays son.![]()
Every team, including your Lakers who got Swept! out of the Forum, played the same 50 games. The Asterisk! doesn't exist, son.![]()
Interesting post from a self-proclaimed "Clipper" Fan![]()
son, i can shave your minny les by 10% 60 game seasons!!!!~!!!!! Those teams couldn't handle a 82 game season
60 was the standard back then. They didn't dip to 40 games then declare the winner of that farce of a reduced season "champions"![]()
Phil came up w/ the Asterisk for HIMSELF b/c he was out of the league but the rest of the league just rolled w/ it out of envy.![]()
