    Smoltz was supposed to start game 1. He is not because he has a bum shoulder and they are hoping he will be healthy enough to start game 2.

    BTW: I grew up a Braves fan (out of no real loyalty - mysecond grade baseball team was the Braves.) I now live in Houston and cheer for the hometown teams. The Braves are still number two in my book. I even took a road trip to Atlanta last year to see the Braves play in Atlanta on the 4th of July. Who can say the same?

    I love the Braves but there is a reason that not one ESPN baseball analyst picked the Braves to beat the Astros.

    Besides that matchup.... Astros should get it.
    Pet te is going up against Hudson, not Smoltz, who is the only pitcher who has more wins in post season than Andy...so this is a break for Andy.

    It is also tough for Atlanta because there is no way Smoltz is better than Roger Clemens right now - shoulder injury or not.

    I think Houston will beat the Braves in this series. But, what explaination can be made as to why the Astros have not even made it to the World Series? Is it the curse of Joe Morgan? Is it payback for introducing that horrible artifical grass to sports? It is a head scratcher, as they have had great pitching most of their history, and pitching usually wins championships.

    We will see if the team with the best staff in MLB can finally score enough runs to reward these fine men.
