Gasol is 36. Mozgov is 30. Gasol has a lot of wear and tear. Mozgov doesn't. We didn't sign Mozgov to be 20/10. He just needs to be a defensive presence, rebound, set solid picks, and swat. He also has a steady midrange jumper. These are things he can do. He won't get pushed around either like Pau will.

I'm surprised you haven't figured out the lakers strategy. They've figured out there is no chance to make the playoffs or even build future, but they have to spend the money, so what they did was to go out and sign as many injury prone players as possible to crazy contracts, praying that at least one of them to be injured so that they can get the insurance money.
