How does it not make sense? It's a personal preference. I Absoultely feel that way about athletes with checkered pasts and who I root for. Depends on the nature of the crime/accusations but yes, people that are bigoted/sexist etc.. I have a problem with watching especially when it comes to paying money out of my own pocket.

I had to watch Kobe because I had no choice if I was watching the games. With movies, I can choose not to go.
Seems like a very petty and naive viewpoint, but to each his own.

I don't see how it's petty or naive TBH...

I'm not boycotting his movies and trying to lecture other people on seeing him . I just don't look at him the same and on top of never thinking he was as good as others did, knowing who he is just turns me off to watching him. I've tried but now all I see is "that Mel Gibson" any time I watch a movie with him.

I'm not losing sleep over him and not telling others how to feel, but I guess me not liking him and not wanting to spend my money is petty/naive?

Seems like a tough line to draw. Or is is just Mel Gibson? Do you find it hard to watch Bryan Singer's movies? Or listen to a Michael Jackson song?

It's a (tough line) that is boundless. For many years I admired the out of Burt Lancaster for his acting ability and insistence on doing his own stunts in his films. In "The Train" he is a wonderment. I'm in a Goodwill one day and I find his bio book on the shelf. I'm leafing thru it and find there that he had nary use for conservatives. Ruined my day. But, I made peace with it. You have to, or, you'll miss a lot, your example of (Michael Jackson) a prime example.

Much easier to overlook if the work is already done and appreciated. Bad, Thriller and the previous work was done and gone by the time I had an inkling about his penchant for kids. Also the fact that his music never really approached that level again so I didn't have to make that call. Didn't know about Singer until well after Usual Suspects. Now he's making superhero movies so I can still watch the shows and badmouth him at the same time.

That (before & after) tact is a might disingenuous, SS.

We've all done things we're ashamed of. I was a terrible bully throughout school. I cringe now at that "sight(s)." GD me! & that's not near the worse on my ledger.

Oh I don't know. I got to enjoy the music, movie, etc. without any moral dilemma. If you had told me before hand..."this guy is a pedophile", I might have had a predisposition to not enjoy it. The more egregious the charge, the heavier the burden on me to not enjoy it. In any event, as to Gibson, he doesn't even register a blip on my radar. If I were to blackball his movies for his being drunk and saying dumb , it'd make me quite the hypocrite. And I couldn't care less what he actually believes. The thing that did the damage was he got wasted and said it out loud. Hollywood is full of crazies. Doesn't make his movies any more or less enjoyable. This one looks like it's in his wheelhouse, so I'll check it out.

"Get the Gringo" was underrated Mel Gibson goods imo...didn't get quite the exposure because it was post-rant, but I recommend it to anyone so long as it doesn't interfere with their delicate sensibilities

My son in law who is a computer geek (builds them and works in that biz) talked me into getting this Amazon Fire Stick. I bet I have 10,000 movies there. And, that is one of them.

Chris did something to the system in order to get so many movies, not sure what.

I highly recommend this Fire Stick system.
He jail broke it. If you want all boxing... PPV, Movies on Demand, all sports Packages... plus unlimited PORN... check out the Netmaster Media Center.

He was funny in the sequel to Swingers. Then he decided that character would work in every role he ever got.

Yes, Cub...as long as you don't go in expecting some life-changing Oscar performance, it gives you exactly what you want: 90-120 minutes of good action/comedy entertainment.

Delicate sensibilities aside, I felt Blood Father was a good film. Vintage Gibson. If you all haven't had a chance to see it I highly recommend you all check it out.

Will do. I'm only going because you & the other fellows liked it. I've been waiting since last Winter for something worth a trip. I haven't been since the "Hateful Eight" for cryin' out loud.
