And that is the fundamental thought process of a American civilian. It could have been left as 'Riley doesn't want him to die.' But to add the fear of a civil lawsuit shouldn't even be a thought process. I don't want him to die! That is the only ethical decision to make.
People are overblowing the chances of him dying on the court. He's not looking for a doctor to let him play despite the clots. He's looking for a doctor who has a solution for the clots that works. The idea that there isn't or at least won't soon be a way to deal with this issue is sort of absurd. Even if Bosh never plays again, his efforts might lead to a breakthrough that will help future athletes.
