Definitely wouldn't want to live in Chiraq tbh. Friend's wife is stationed up there in the Navy and it was bad enough to where he had to move his daughter back down here.

Chicago today is Detroit in the early to mid 80s, but thankfully with enough clean people to offset the deporables from the inner-city.

We had a decent discussion and this had to come in with his ty list that no one cares about.

Anyway someone asked my dislikes about Chicago.

    Crime rate is super high,
buildings are all old as ,
extremely overcrowded and alot of traffic.
Even the good parts of town are still kind of sketchy.
Really cant have a house that was built before the 40's if you actually live in city limits.
The winters are ing cold as .
    People aren't friendly.
Even downtown which is the best part about the city has a ton of bums.
Super expensive if you want to live in the nice parts. Have 3 buddies who all have decent jobs and have to split a two bedroom apartment in the nice area of town because its so pricey.

Downtown Chicago is really cool and a of alot of fun to visit. Can't imagine ever living in Chicago though. I have visited most of the larger cities in the US and it is towards the bottom of the list of places I could see myself living. In fairness I prefer warm weather states which is part of the issue.
Who gives a about how you feel about Chicago? I sure in the don't.

Chicago also has far higher crime rates and is expensive as to live in a nice area. If you want a nice house you need to live outisde the city in the burbs which means you are commuting. Traffic there is awful compared to San Antonio.

Guess depends what you are looking for in life. The lake being right there is nice though.
There's plenty of cheap enough large enough sized homes to raise a family in on the south side, tbh.

Chicago is a great place to visit. Great restaurants, great sports, tons of stuff to do, and the people are great. It's like a world-class version of Cleveland. Obviously there are bad areas but that's the case in every major city. As far as the biggest cities go I'll take it over L.A. any day, although Manhattan is on a different level than anywhere else I've ever been to.

As far as smaller cities go my favorite is Pittsburgh. Really a nice little city. As far as cities that are nice to live in I'd say Columbus. There's a lot of money in Columbus and some really nice suburbs.

haha I believe I said in a nice part of town. And actually they don't really have large homes. Most of the houses in Chicago are tiny and old as .

    Well played though.

Just noticed the raise a family part lol.

    OMG I love Chicago!

OK inner city crime is the worst in the nation…But Chicago rocks! Cadillac’s, big houses, tree lined neighborhoods, big people…I have relatives there & when my sister & I go to visit we are treated like royalty. It is an amazing town where folks love to eat and drink! You can’t get a bad meal in Chicago… The worst dive pizza joint is better than anything we have in LA. Chicago dogs! Supreme tamales! Before there was ever a McDonalds Chicago had Supreme tamale stands! Not only a rich Italian heritage but a rich Mexican influence as well…Some of the best Mexican food in the world is in Chicago. You can take classes on weekends to learn how to butcher, roast and BBQ a pig & make to best carnitas on the planet. My sister & I are both thin by Chicago standards & people will come up to us and ask where we are from…When we tell them from LA the next thing they ask is Say something weird, say something weird.
If you like big beautiful girls, big cars, big meals, people who love to laugh, Chicago is the town to be in!

I know a lot of people who live in Chicago and pretty much love it unanimously. Detroit has issues but seems to be on the upswing.

I'd probably say Houston. Terrible weather, terrible traffic, endless strip malls, and I think it might be the only major city that is so close to the ocean without actually being on the ocean.

Chicago is amazing. There are really ty areas like south and westside, but honestly why the would you live there?

The North side of the city and those nearby suburbs are booming, great neighborhoods, awesome places to raise a family.
So much stuff to do there, and as stated earlier amazing architecture and character to the city.

Unless you broke AF anyways why consider moving to any city in america if you can't live on a nicer side? No one moves to NY and says "yo im moving to the tiest area where people get killed"

I'll never forget Old Town in '68. A very special time. My family was on the way to Yellowstone, the last vacation.

I've never been to Chicago, but my Dad has traveled there a few times for work and said that it's a windy, cold, miserable . And poverty is everywhere.

I'd have to actually analyze to assess living situation, though(cost of living, transportation, traffic, etc)..much different story than tourism..

For example, I've lived in Toronto and NY for virtually all my life, and while I love the cities and believe they are among the best to visit, I wouldn't want to live in either of them anymore, tbh..I'm excited to leave TO..
    Where to?
