Funny, just three days ago, OP predicted the Spurs would suffer an "Embarrassing beatdown" at the hands of the Warriors... I guess he didn't believe too much in Kawhi's ability to lead his team to a win against Golden State.

Only 3 players have a Finals MVP + DPOY ^^^

Only 2 players have won MVP and DPOY in the same season..add a 3rd to the list, this season, tbh..
Tim should be on there. Still can't get over Camby, Noah and Gasol getting DPOY over him.

LeBron will try to preserve his 31 going on 32 yr old self for the playoffs. That means an easier path for a KL MVP.
Exactly. Lebron is at that age where he's still in his prime, but only for the playoffs. MVP is a regular season award. Kawhi is 25, just entering his prime. He should win it.

Yeah and with kd and curry sharing votes, Kawhi's main compe ion is a Westbrook who's not going to win that many games.

Considering he got the votes for league MVP twice. I never got why he didn't get the DPOY love?

    1. We had DRob and Bowen on the team at various times splitting votes.

    2. Before advanced stats caught on, and voters were enamored with Blocked Shots statistics.

    3. Usually favors a player that is defensive minded only (Wallace, Camby, etc.)

Camby's award is a joke. He blocked some shots, that's all he did to get that award. His actual defense was very, very average. And what is most funny about that is that in the playoffs he didn't even guard TD. He wasn't good enough. They gave the assignment to Nene.

I told you he was the 2nd best player in the world last season.

Wardell has no defensive responsibility. None.
the power of the PPG man!

Kawhi is probably going to be near 24-25 point per game to take the MVP home from Lebron and the apology-vote already cast for him..

I just want to know how Pop and RC had any idea this could happen, given what Kawhi was in college. Goddamned wizards.

NBA has an offense-bias..none of the other MVP contenders is in Kawhi's stratosphere on the defensive end..only Playoffs- nay Finals- Lebron is anywhere near him..

I don't care: if Kawhi averages 23-25 PPG/7 RPG/3-4 APG/ with DPOY-level D, he should get the award with Spurs as a top 2 seed..

I've been saying that Duncan's absence helps Kawhi because there were so many media heads who assumed that meant the end of the Spurs' glory run. But nope. Just the start of another one.

I drafted Kawhi fourth in my fantasy league. I only had Westbrook slotted ahead of him. Curry and KAT were the other two that moved ahead. I feel like I lucked out. If Kawhi stays healthy, he's going to finish in the top slot for FBB points. Drafted Danny too (of course), so I'm hoping both halves of Wingstop carry me to another le.

Spurs got this dude for George freakin Hill
People joke that "we could have had Paul George" That joke isn't even relevant anymore because Kawhi is way better than PG

He straight up mugged McLemore of his purse with that 2nd steal. Completely stripped him of the ball and his manhood

If you look at it, Softridge isn't better than Bosh & Pau/Porker aren't better than Wade. So, if the Spurs can win 60+ games then Kawhi should get the MVP like Lebron did in the '11-'12 lockout season when the Heat finished w/ a 46-20 record (62 wins). The Heat only had the 4th best record in the league & LeBron hadn't won a championship yet after choking against the Mavs.

    '11-'12 LeBron: 27/8/6/2 (PER: 30.7; WS/48: .298; TS: 60%)

    '15-'16 Kawhi : 21/7/3/2 (PER: 26, WS/48: .277, TS%: 616)

    Kawhi so far this season: 32/4/4/5 (PER: 40; WS/48: .487; TS: 62%)

It fairly conceivable that Kawhi can average something like 26/6/4/3 (PER: 28, WS/48: .29 TS: 60%), which would be better any of LeBron's past two seasons. At the end of the day, it going to come down to wins just like when Kirby stole Choke-P3's MVP in 2008.
If the Spurs finish w/ a better record than the Duds/Cavs then Kawhi should be the unanimous MVP.

Only Curry has been mugged that badly on a basketball court but he gets a pass b/c he's light skin.
