If Rockets or OKC finish top 4 in the West I could see the voters giving it to either Harden or Westbrook. If Westbrook averages a triple double while being the league's best scorer he may win it even without a top 4 finish.

Not really...it usually goes to the best player on a top 2 team in their conference, even if they didn't have the most impressive stats (they all have impressive stats, of course, but not necessarily the most impressive stats). Team success is a big factor in the voting.

You have a team that was #1 in the past 2 years and obviously won't win 73 games this year but Durant is just basically doing the same thing he did with the thunder as their record this year won't be like last years.
