I'd prefer every other (made) shot behind the line to be worth 2, so it averages out to 2.5. Have a green light next to the shot clock, when the light is off every FG is worth 2, when you make a shot behind the arc the light turns on and shots behind the arc are worth 3. Making a 3 turns the light off again.

OOooo - and shooting fouls. Award one point and they only have to shoot one. That way it wouldn't penalize guys who can't shoot so much.

And they could do away with rebounding, and just alternate possession after every missed shot.

I'd rather seem a 1 point penalty for every 3 pointer missed. Or use a sliding scale based on each player's level. So Curry might get one point for a three pointer but someone like Parker might get 2. A poor shooting center would get 3.
