Best time of the year.. Why not post when playoff's come around, even if it is when playoff's start! posters get into it... I am sure the creators of this great site, have no problems with it why should you. Enjoy yourselves while on here with like minded SPURS fans.

Spurs get a ton of respect, tbh..there's a difference between marketability/hype and respect..

Pop and RC get free passes for any bad move they make, due to body of work..every time any random Spur player has a nice run, there's the "they did it again" narrative..people have even considered these Spurs contenders the past 2 years, despite not actually being anything more than a darkhorse..

Warriors and Cavs receive more "hype" for obvious reasons..ratings monsters, entertaining players and style of play..Spurs have always been ratings poison, of course..
    Well said!!

** I see you bring up a good point.. Spurs system makes many players look good, then they bounce for the money, and careers take a nose dive faster than you can say Jack Haley..

I honestly think they have gotten respect. As time passes you will hear less and less about how successful the franchise was though. Its all about the new blood. Hardly anyone talks about the 90's Lakeshow or the Bulls run anymore. But, that being said, I remember after the 2014 championship........ the Spurs were called "Beautiful Basketball" That right there is respect.
Oh yeah, after the Spurs dominated the Heat in 2014 most of the media............HOLY that's a nice avi.

Spurs get a lot of respect, the only reason spurs fans think that the spurs don't is because they have this huge inferority complex because they aren't a big market team.

Not really, but thanks for taking care of Harden, though.

Pop get's the majority of the credit when they win, which is really pseudo, back handed respect because anytime a basketball coach gets credit, what people are really saying is, they don't think the best player(s) are that great. Otherwise, they generally automatically get penalized for coaching greatness.

It's true. Danny Green and Patty Mills, Jonathan Simmons and David Lee aren't that good. Without Kawhi no one is that good on the Spurs. LMA is decent, but let's be honest, this group is basically what we saw at the end of game 1 and in game 2 of the WCF. Kyle Anderson? Bertans? Dedmon? These are scrubs in the NBA. They aren't great players. The media readily accepts and even pushes the notion of Kawhi as a superstar. It's the rest of the team that Pop gets credit for but also for Kawhi who wasn't a heralded player when he entered the league. That's coaching, training, and a ton of gym rat work by Kawhi Leonard. As head coach and president of basketball operations, Pop has to get credit for that.

They're solid role players, who'd look a lot better if at least one of Parker or Ginobili were even close to their primes. You think the Warriors and Cavaliers have any better of role players? There's might seem that way because of the star power, just like the Spurs' used to seem better when they have superior star power.

I wasn't really talking about the current team specifically though or saying Pop shouldn't get a decent amount of the credit; just saying the best players deserve more. The media can't have it both ways. The majority act as if coaching doesn't matter, then give this coach more credit than any player, when he's coached arguably 1 top 5 player of all time, another top 25 one, a third who looks like he could end up at that level if not higher, two other sure fire future HOF'ers (three if you count twilight version Gasol) and a perennial All-Star.
