That's about the only 6-5 SG I could think was an exception. Other than that even historically ... nada. All specialists/ journeymen. Even Fat Lever came to mind... I thought he was 6-5 but was actually only 6-3.

Thanks.... he won't have Simmons athleticism, but we know from our experience with Danny Green and Kawhi Leonard that long arms make a big difference in defense.

He was originally drafted by Memphis in 2013, injured his ankle and wasn't able to perform. Since then he's worked out with several teams including Denver, Nets, Lakers, never heard why he didn't stick, but from what I've gleemed his 3 pt jump shot needed work. Hopefully he's fixed it. I'm curious why you never hear what happens from these team workouts. Anyway I'm pulling for him.

2014 was a terrible time to make our roster. Coming off the LoB, I think we turned maybe one roster spot. You can also make more money overseas than as an NBA end of bencher.

Yes, that year, only Kyle was added to replace Damion James. Daye would later be cut, but he had a guaranteed deal by then. Honestly, Franklin has been a bust so far, which is why I'm extremely apathetic about him. People here have been hyping him for year now, though.

I restrained myself from sharing previously that I had watched a couple of his games in the dleague against the Austin Spurs back in 2015. Kyle sonned him on both ends. Franklin lost both. He did stand out as an aggressive scorer with the ball in his hands.

I do recall him as more ball dominant than Simms and Kyle at the time if you can believe it. More than any physical attribute which were unremarkable IMO, it was his aggressiveness that stood out. However, not really someone I am excited about. Hanga intrigues me more if we are talking about older NBA prospects.

I don't know how he's improved since then. That was 2 years ago but playing in China... ehhh.

He did everything at SDSU except shoot the 3 pointer. His last year, they ran the offense through him, and his position was PF. If they think Simmons is gone, there aren't many better options for a cheap development project. He's almost 26, but unlike Simmons at that age, he has some NBA experience.

Perhaps what stands out most about Franklin are his incredible rebounding numbers, as he pulled down 11.3 rebounds per-40 as a junior, which was easily the best mark of any shooting guard prospect in our Top-100 rankings. UNM fan? And yes he did play at PF. Don't know if he's good enough for a roster spot but it's worth a look. He is a hard worker (something he learned from Kawhi) and has a great motor so it would be worth it to see how much he has improved. His at ude issues are sort of like Westbrook where opposing fans tend to hate him.

If we are gutting the team to bring in a FA, Spurs looking for possible replacements with better defense and who are not offensive liability. This guy seems a good fit

I agree. Hanga versus franklin the choice is obvious. Get someone who wont dominate the ball and plays defense.

Don't see may passing highlights. This team needs a passing playmaker to replace Manu. Kid looks like a very poor mans Hardin without passing. Definitely a scorer, but not sure how we could use him unless we lose Simmons

One of my favorite examples was Anthony Parker. Couldn't make it in the NBA, so he went to play for Maccabi for 5-6 years, and worked his ass off. I saw him play when I was over there, and I was just crying for the Spurs to pick him up. When he came back to the NBA, he was a damned solid player. He started for Toronto and was a major factor in them winning their first division le ever. Then he went to Cleveland and become a starter on the team with the best record in the league. He was never a star-caliber player, but he was exactly the kind of supporting cast you want on your team.

The point is, there are guys who have gone to Europe and become MUCH better players than they were. Not all of them want or try to come back to the NBA, but there are more than a few that could. I don't know about Franklin, but I sure as wouldn't rule him out just because he went to play in Europe. No more than I would discount him for being 6'5" tall.
