what if California leaves the USA

Adam Silver's wet dream. The NBA would truly become international. He'd offer them anything to stay.

The question the OP should have asked: "What if the Spurs 'strike out' next year, even with a lot of cash... and STILL win a Championship?" I'll tell you what would happen:

Depends on how the team feels about guys like Simmons, Anderson and Bertans. If they want to keep all those guys, then not getting into long-term money with older players isn't horrible. It wouldn't hurt to give Pau his $16 Million back while reserving cap space for later. Also, it makes sense to buy out Milutinov so he doesn't get ideas similar to Bogdonvic. They can give Hanga a long-term deal as opposed to a two-year min. And they can reup Dedmon.

There's also the possibility that they re-sign Mills.
At least we're going to know for sure where Anderson is this season. He could be a good stretch 4 given his 3 point shooting has improved each year if he focuses on that and attacking closeouts when they come, he should be able to be an effective player. If he goes passive that's it. Bertans is established IMO. An extremely long 3 point gunner who moves well without the ball. He should be a big part of the rotation this year. Has also shown some signs of rim protection.
