Bannon was the symbolic white house connection to Breitbart wing of his base who were basically the only group rabidly defending Trump in the wake of Charlottesville. The mainstream right has all but left the sinking ship.

By axing Bannon, Trump is basically saying he's somewhat ready to reach across the aisle or that he basically used Bannon and his redneck followers to get elected

There will be no wall. Sheriff Joe will not get pardoned. Coal isn't coming back. Obamacare won't get repealed. Right got played by a lifelong huckster who simply wanted the presidency to bask in the spotlight if affords. It's why he's on twitter so in much.

They can start moving to repeal the ACA again in October when the new fiscal year starts and they get another shot at a reconciliation bill on spending (you get one per year and skinny repeal was the one this year). They probably won't before the new year though since they have to raise the debt ceiling (they also get one debt ceiling reconciliation bill per fiscal year) and cut taxes on the rich. Trump's probably not going to reach across the aisle as I seriously doubt Ryan or McConnell would allow it.

He dismissed the far right as irrelevant and sidestepped his own role in cultivating it: “Ethno-nationalism—it's losers. It's a fringe element. I think the media plays it up too much, and we gotta help crush it, you know, uh, help crush it more.”

“These guys are a collection of clowns,” he added.
