Losing weight won't help if he doesn't bring a little bit more effort though...
It is preseason though.
It's not looking good stream-wise. I was reading a Kings forum and they're saying that the game isn't being televised in Sac so they're hoping for a Spurs broadcast (fat chance, never happens in the preseason). Our only saving grace would be some weird Jumbotron feed from International League Pass but even that is looking doubtful.
Dropping weight enables him to make more effort. 10 pounds dropped while working out might help a lot.
If he did it out of motivation, the better.
Which makes me think about LMa and how, if physically capable, should finally start a season with SA in shape so he can effectively use more of his "touches".
Sometimes he looks lazy on the court to me. No amount of losing weight will account for the fact he's standing still in a spot and not moving to grab a rebound, a lose ball or to contest a shot. I am glad he lost the weight but he needs to put in more effort too. I hope that effort is going to accompany the weight loss.

It's frustrating, but also understandable. Have you seen him when he puts forth full effort? If you watched Eurobasket, you would have seen what that looks like. Gasol was gassed by the third every game.
Expect a lot of laziness this season. Such is life when you rely on an over the hill Spaniard too slow to keep up with the ever increasing pace of the league.
The fact that he has lost weight is a strong indicator of the very effort you mention. Pau is known to not work out during the summer and use the season to get in shape. If he has also had that fire lit under his ass it can only mean good things for the Spurs.
