Didn't mind it in Game 1 but it was stupid against the Bulls. Murray has outplayed Mills in the first two games. Pop shouldn't be trying to split the minutes evenly. Murray needs minutes and has excelled in those minutes and Mills hasn't played well in his thus far.

And I can't see them forcing Tony to retire if he can still play. They may give him less money and minutes and preserve him a la Manu but so long as he can play basketball Pop will want him. It would change things if he comes back from that injury and is a s of himself... but if he can play Pop will want him.
They can always trade Mills. Might not be a popular take here but he already got his big contract. The team doesn't owe him anything if he's not playing up to what he's getting paid. Add to that the fact that the team has a lot of guys who are going to be FA this summer who appear to already be contributing more. (Gay, Danny, and there may be others showing up as the season goes on). So Mills can't rest easy. We don't even know yet how some new guards in the team we aren't watching play yet may develop and also be better than him if he doesn't pick up his play. So he has to pick up his play.

It's going to be hard to trade Mills without trading a 1st. The PG position is the most saturated position in the league and Mills is a back up. The few teams needing competent back up PG play (there's not many) won't have to allocate significant resources to get competent back up PG play. Teams didn't have to this off-season and they'd be dumb to take on that contract for decent back up PG play.
Spurs made a pretty dumb mistake giving Patty that deal.
