I think it's more of a matter of easing him back in.

Also, the rotation is playing well right now, and even though Kawhi is ultra talented, he will probably only play 20 minutes and could disrupt the flow they have going right now while they work him in. Better to do that against a glorified GLeague team than one of the top squads in the NBA.

Boston is a good and physical defensive team. The suns on the other hand dont play defense at all. I think bringing Kawhi back against Phoenix makes sense
