I think the real rift here is a loss of confidence between the Spurs doctors and Kawhi, which in any professional sports team is a pretty big deal. Especially if the Spurs plan to stick with that staff...

Just to save you guys some reading time. Here is the article in a nuts :
1. This guy has followed Kawhi since he was at SDSU. He claims Kawhi has always had a good work ethic and believes he would play if he could. He gives an example of how Kawhi's college coach put the team through a grueling 3 hour practice on a Friday and then gave the team Saturday off. According to the writer other players went to the club on that Friday night while Kawhi stayed in the gym and practice.
2. The writer cites Stephen Jackson as a credible source on the disarray within the Spurs organization which causes him to loses immediate credibility in my eyes.
3. The writer claims that Kawhi sitting out is not about money. I say obviously that's bs since we keep hearing from his camp he doesn't want his value to be harmed by playing when it comes to getting the super max.
4. The writer mentions that how the Spurs had given him media passes in the past but this time around when he came to the Final Four they refused to give it to him. He's implying that since the Spurs know he's a huge follower of Kawhi's career that they are trying to cover up something by not giving him a media pass.
5. This guy only mentions Kawhi's uncle for 1 sentence and says there is tensions between him and the front office.
What I believe is going on hasn't changed. Like I said before I believe Kawhi's uncle doesn't want Kawhi in SA and is doing everything possible to get him out of here.

It's possible that neither side wants this to come out, and that's why they are denying press access. The Spurs probably know Kawhi's trade stock will only fall the more information the public gets, and Kawhi potential for a new deal with another club will fall along with it. Even with this mystery, if Kawhi checks out decently on a physical, he's going to command a good return in the draft.
If I had to pick between the two, I would pick Kawhi over Will Sevening or anyone else in the staff.
I would not be surprised if Magic Johnson had something to do with this, just like his role in Paul George's situation in Pacers.

Who knows anything is possible. I remember Magic openly tampering to get Shaq during the '95-96 season. In interviews with the media that season Magic kept on saying Shaq would be a Laker. He was also good friends with Shaq and keep in mind Shaq's agent also wanted to be in LA.
Maybe it's because the entire cadre of US basketball press was in SA that weekend and there just weren't enough credentials for all.
