This was about as good as Spurs could do with no leverage unfortunately a lot of people thought we had the leverage when it just wasn’t the case. All lies on Murray, White and Walker to develop into what they’re truly capable of being and the team should be fine in the long run.
Then the Spurs should have made a trade earlier instead of waiting so long and watch Kawhi's value tank.

Derozan jesus christ. Would rather have a contract to make the salaries match and then 2-3 unprotected firsts to blow it up. Ship LMA for draft picks too

Yep...Poeltl is basically Eubanks and the protected first rounder is garbage...Bad all around...
The Spurs should have gotten a potential lottery pick in any trade for Leonard. protected picks are garbage.

if we weren't going to get OG, and the first round pick is this protected... i woulda preferred Harris + two firsts imo. especially since michael porter was on the board

As soon as Kawhi wanted out, it was inevitable
We should have at least gotten that small forward they just took in the draft

If Kawhi would have given the Paul George answer about being open minded we would have gotten a better return.

Had you not been listening to the reports this summer?? Spurs wanted to try hard to keep Kawhi.. they weren’t necessarily waiting out deals. Getting a 29 year old all star back (even if you don’t like his game) is still better than unproven guys. They never were gonna get as much as this. Lakers weren’t even offering Kuzma or Ingram and Philly weren’t offering Fultz. Boston wasn’t gonna give up anyone. And no one else were even trying to trade for him.

What's that old saying - it's not a deal until everybody feels like they are getting a little screwed?

DeMar Derozan has averaged 20+ points for 5 consecutive seasons. All-Star scorer. Not much of a 3-point shooter (28.9 percent lifetime).

Jakob Poetl is a 22-year-old former lottery pick (9th overall in 2016). Entering his third season. Averaged 6.9 points and 4.8 rebs last year.

One player the #Spurs can count on to help DeMar buy into SA is Rudy Gay. The two are extremely close from their time playing together in Toronto. Starting five could include Rudy and DeMar with LaMarcus and Dejounte

First round draft picks are valued very highly now. You guys like Walker and White? Well we get a chance at two more next offseason. Board can be mad all they want but Kawhi was the one that was sabotaging his trade value and him going to training camp was not a good idea.

That was the Spurs mistake trying to keep Leonard, the relationship was over. Had the spurs been more certain they wanted to make a trade they could have gotten a better trade on draft day or before. The Spurs were not making offers, other than saying they might be interested in a player or two, just listening, so they waited too long to make the decision that he was going to be traded. What offers did the Spurs make to teams that were turned down on draft night or before?

PATFO eaters working overtime this morning.

    This is the bottom line:

Spurs got a depressed who scores 8 points in elimination games on a mammoth contract

Spurs won't get a first round pick

Spurs won't get the young wing prospect they were inquiring for

Spurs keep the Gasol and Mills contracts

In a league where PJ Tucker and Bojan Bogdanovic net you a first round pick, you inexplicably use Green as filler.

Raptors dump their ty DeRozan contract on the Spurs without taking on any of the Spurs' ty contacts is a huge win for the raptors.
13th highest paid player in the nba. Just above Porter, Wiggins, Drummond. Below Hayward, Conley, Anthony. This guy is loyal. Took a paycut to stay with Raptors. He seems like a Spurs guy. Can't wait to see what Pop can get out of an elite scorer.

Well it’s in the past now. I’m not upset with the trade. The only thing I’m a little disappointed about is not getting OG or Siakam.

Yeah, Demar is going to be loyal as and you can't get that with a cancer.

Also at this moment Raptor fans are hating the deal, basically giving up their best player for a year rental.
