I followed that whole season. I actually was happy with the way that team competed. They played hard on defense and were in a lot of games. Didn't have the firepower to win many, though.

Only one team had two guys who played a full season and averaged more than 23 points each. That was the Warriors. Of course, they had three 20 point scorers. The Spurs now have 2 guys who scored more than 23 each. They just need a third person to emerge.

At the time, that team set a record for most player games missed in an NBA season, and I think it was like 278. 5-0 played just a handful of games, Sean missed half of the season, and even Avery missed a big chunk. I KNOW that team wasn't tanking, because when Avery came back, he whipped everyone into shape, and they started winning some games, and I was thinking "NO! ing lose!".

I watched that entire season and it wasn't tanking. The Spurs simply had so many injuries they could barely field 8 players some games. This is NOTHING like what Philly did. The Spurs had the lowest chance to get the #1 pick in the lottery and just got lucky. They could have easily been picking in the teens.
