Kawhi will be top 3 all year due to the fact #nba wants their next future Laker/Clipper/LA guy to be as popular amongst casuals as possible to generate ticket revenue.

Diehards/hardcore bball fans knew he was great all along. NBA got a hold of the story as soon as Uncle made it public they want LA (in the spring). No one was even paying attention outside Spur fan in winter '17. Now they see it as a major story to try to get a real talent to a big market team so they hook onto the hype machine to make it happen.

I actually am surprised. That was my bold prediction of the season that he’d be top 5. It’s a long season but still

He received nowhere near this level of attention when he was Spurs property. It was only at the end of that year IIRC that he started to receive deserved national recognition, somewhere around when he blocked Harden and scored to win that game against Houston. Houston

Except they have like 20 media votes between the ESPN folks on the website, radio and TV.

And now you're beginning to understand why NBA awards are nothing more than a popularity contest. The NBA is half sport, half soap opera.

    Kawhi didn’t get 20 pts..
Because he had to leave the game after an injury in the last minutes.

    I guess you're happy now.

    2 in 2016 3 in 2017

It will depend on how many games he will miss due to injuries, b2bs, and if he beats the other candidates when he faces them on court.

Welcome to the San Antonio market, OP. Y'all thought y'all had it bad, you haven't seen anything yet.

Anyways. I wouldn't put too much credibility on that MVP ladder. It was made by a black midget who had lipo done.

That’s insane that DeRozan isn’t at least top 10 after the first week on the MVP ladder. He is putting up great numbers and has hit clutch shots on a winning team. What more does a player have to do? Smh

Last year when the Spurs were hanging at #3 in the West, and LMA was a top ten scorer (before the late season losses dropped us), LMA still wasn't in the top ten for MVP. So, no reason really to expect any different media treatment for the alpha Spur of this particular year. DeMar will only get attention if Spurs have a long winning streak or are top 2 in the league sadly.

Don't worry boys. These media idiots haven't watched one Spurs game yet. DD destroyed LeBrick these 2 games plus has the better record and LeBron still ahead somehow.. its okay. DD will just need to keep the ball rolling and grind it out as the underdog.
Like I said you got a lot to learn

    1. media people don't watch Spurs games, they mostly just say the same they be sayin every year about the Spurs

    2. If you on the Spurs it's way harder for you to get All-Star/MVP consideration, just because of lack of media coverage and having the GOAT coach

bro i'm raptors fan, you don't need to tell me what not getting media attention is. Raptors are far worse in terms of overall media attention. The entire off season media circus was all about " where will Kawhi go next season " and nothing else.

tim Duncan won back to back mvp’s on a boring spurs..

its all about stats ang winning games.. like billmc said, derozan should Maintain his 28/6/7 or do better and spurs get a 10 to 15 game winning streak..

Just realized that Oladipo is ahead of DD on the list.

    Team records

    Spurs 5-2
    Pacers 6-3

    DD - 28/7/6 FG 52%
    Dipo - 22/6/4 FG 47%

Mind blown. They should just scrap these MVP ladder bull altogether. It's embarrassing
