The Democrats have to get out the youth vote just like they did with Obama to win and they actually turned out for Beto. Beto is probably the Democrats' strongest candidate, since like Bernie he can get the youth vote out while unlike Bernie he won't scare off older Democrat voters and minorities.

Agreed. Obama/Trump have tossed out the notion that you need to rack up experience before running. Besides, he won't get the same national attention (i.e. money) in a presidential year if he's just going after Cornyn's seat.

Younger people vote democratic more often, and older ones vote more conservative. It's more likely a younger person was born here whereas an older one has more time to move around in life.
