All the criticism of Cunningham may be warranted but it should then directed at the FO that brought him on board and thought the team would be fine starting him. Why hate the player and protect precious PATFO from critics?

Davis picked up 4 fouls in 13 minutes and he strikes me as the kind of guy that like Forbes when that shot isn't falling you need to bench also.

    Spurstalk's in full panic mode.

I actually liked the game which is a rare experience with Spurs games lately. I disagree on Cun today: while I think he shouldn't start in 90% of games; today I thought he played decently and actually stopped Lebron here and there a couple of times which could be enough if... And here come the main reasons we lost the game:
    1. Lakers made some really tough shots in the end. Like Lebron made 2 ultra-long Curry-like threes.
    2. We've got almost zero production from our PGs. Forbes was atrocious. Mills did not have a good game. White could not make a shot. We didn't need much -- 3-4 usual threes from Forbes & Mills would be enough but they couldn't contribute. I don't buy Forbes as a starter in this league, and I think he should be benched for Mills, White or the corpse of Nicolás freaking Laprovíttola
Forbes is definitely not a starter in this league, definitely. In fact some things mentioned in timvp's comments: Spurs not recognizing mismatches when Gay was having an awesome game and Mills terrible game management at the end speak to the teams need for a real PG.

Bertans, like Forbes is the kind of guy that sucks at everything outside of hitting three point shots.

When Davis is hitting threes he's great. The thing is that's all he does and he isn't as consistent as the Spurs need him to be. When his shot is struggling he's pretty much useless. He can't defend and can't create for himself or others on the team. Same can be said for Forbes. They both need to be moved. If the Spurs can't move them then they need to be benched.

Cunningham isn't doing much of anything. He's more of a second unit kind of player and maybe not even that. Not sure what the front office was thinking signing him. He needs to be moved as well. If they can't move him then negotiate a buyout and bring in a true small forward. I think a guy like Corey Brewer would be better than Cunningham. Not sure how much better, but better. Spurs wouldn't lose much money buying out Cunningham and wouldn't spend much signing someone like Brewer.

Bertans is a much better defender than guys like Belinelli or Forbes. So instead of having those guys out there, you might as well have Davis, who also happens to be a much better shooter.

Bertans is shooting 44% from 3, he's the most consistent three pt shooter in the roster. Also, even if he's not hitting (or even shooting) he still makes a difference by providing spacing. There's just no rationale behind not playing him.

i'm beginning to look at this season as more of a semi-hope we tank feel and let's develop who we can and ultimately trade or let go of who we can. there are some bright spots in what i have seen of poeltl and white as of late has been encouraging. even metu has shown some development. i just want to be able to think that if we can add another FA this summer, along with a nice draft pick, a healthy murray and a slightly developed walker that maybe we can get back to being a playoff team in 2019-20. cause i just don't see us making the playoffs this year.

If the Spurs front office is set on sticking with this group the entire season then they need to change the starting lineup and rotation. I would start White, Derozan, Gay, Aldridge, and Poeltl. I wouldn't give that much playing time to Belinelli. They need to start giving more minutes to Metu too.

The return of Walker and Gasol will help some, but I wouldn't start Gasol.

This is a non-playoff season. I can live with that. There needs to be player development with the younger guys as much as winning games.

This team is not threat to win a WC playoff series when they will be at best a 7th or 8th seed again. Just roll with the punches.

The 4th quarter collapse last night isn't suprising when you're not a good defensive team and LeBron goes off. The Spurs are what they are - an up and down team that isn't very good and hasn't been together very long. Don't sign anymore bad contracts and get rid of the bad contracts they have. There is not much they can do this season. Not too much to be excited about. By the time everyone gets healthy, LMA and DDR are 1 year older.

There is no coach who could fix DeRozan and LMA. It's fools gold, like a cursed item you can't remove from your inventory. The only hope is to wait out the LMA pop regime

Is this the first sign of DeMar getting son'd again by LeBron, this time on the Spurs?

the game was over when Mills came in, turned the ball over, then took 2 random shots which he both missed. Then left his man open at the 3 point line twice and gave up 2 3s. That's where they lost the game

Thanks for the grades. It was another sad one to watch, as we just negated all of Rudy's inspired 3rd quarter with an unbelievably bad 4th quarter. 43 points? Lawd, that ain't right!

When did Kirk stop being the stats guy for the Spurs? Probably got fired when he suggested to PATFO to stop shooting so many mid range jumpers.

I bet Pop thinks defense has everything to do with his schemes and not individual skill. That's the only valid explanation for this. I mean we all knew the defense will be trash

Pop's infatuation with Cunningham is the first thing that needs to be fixed. It is just stupid, or senile, or both.
Front line rotation is out of kilter. We could actually be missing Pau's veteran presence on the court and as depth on the front line. One solution is to play Poertle 30+ minutes and let him learn while playing. He can't do worse than Cunningham. LMA, Poertle and Gay wouldn't be a terrible front line.

When Gay needs a blow, why not go small with De Rozen or White at SF with a little Metu and/or Poindexter thrown in. Gotta look to the future.

Pop knows his stuff in terms of defense. But hes just very poor at evaluating talent alongside RC who is equally poor.

Gone are the days when Pop called kawhi "He's the franchise player" in his second year .

    Just out of touch now.
