Hard to know about the passion, he's done a good job with adjusting to the current roster.
Yeah, no doubt. He's done an admirable job coaching with the pieces around DeMar and LaMarcus. I'd still rather have the team miss the playoffs and acquire a lottery pick, but Pop isn't about tanking....

I heard during LAST season from a seasons ticket holder who does business with one of the ownership consortium and they are less than happy with Pop’s politics. He’s gone after 2019-2020.
Interesting, I thought San Antonio was a liberal town and he's cut back a lot of the vitriol towards Trump this season.

I'm shocked that his outspokenness about politics might play a part in his ousting/retirement.

Petty sure he'll still stay on as team president still, no? Like Riley in MIA and Phil in NY.

It's hard to say what Pop will do. He could remain in a front office capacity but it doesn't have to be in San Antonio.

Umm I’m pretty sure Phil got axed already after Porzingis didn’t even want to come back.

You’re en led to your opinion. It wasn’t so much the beliefs, but his using his position as a podium for them. The kicker seemed to be when he said we were a racist country. Since most, if not all of the ownership is rich old white guys who are just fine with both where the country is, and where it’s heading, he just basically called all of them racists.
If true, then that is pretty damn silly.

Isn't Holt super conservative? Also the state, at large, is one of the more conservative in the country.

Pop is the type that when he walks away it will be a complete break, I seriously doubt he hangs around in the front office. I think we are watching his last season, I hope everyone enjoys it because I think soon he will be gone.

I don’t think he leaves in a complete disarray. I think he has some responsibility correcting what mess Kiwi created before handing to the next coach. With our developing youngsters, I think the future is bright. Spurs could be compe ive in a year or two.

If the Spurs make the playoffs and compete there is no better way to sail off into the sunset. The perfect picture of his greatness through all the turmoil of the last year .

Pop haters don't know how good we got it. Wait until there is a new coach every three seasons.

Yeah big time. If the Spurs got rid of the greatest coach of all time simply because of his political views it would beyond stupid.

The ball's in Pop's court when it comes to him coaching. Ownership wants him here. He's the one who is undecided.

I don't believe the team wants him gone, I was just saying if it were true.

Exactly. RC said it himself in that NYT article.

“He’ll coach as long as he wants to coach,” Buford said.

I think Pop would like to try and build one more dominant team. He has the guard spots set. Bertans could turn into something special. Poetl is serviceable. Still need need to find another couple of players who can excel at the forward positions like the guard spots.
