That'd make boxing more exciting to watch, but folks would be dying taking that kind of beating for long. I wonder how often people were beat into the grave or into retirement in this days.

While not "back in those days", it was only in the 60s, I always think of the last Griffith and Paret fight when seeing fighters take multiple unchecked hits to the head. Paret died a week or so after the fight.

I actually saw that with my dad and grandpa. Gillette Friday Night Fights....was a must see every week.

I;m thinking he didn't actually die in the ring, he was taken out on a strecher and the next day the news came down he was dead.

Yeah the video le is not correct. He slipped into a coma and died 10 days later in the hospital. Regardless, he got beat to death while the ref sat there and watched.

Been a long long time, just knew it was later we found out he died.

Ted Dibiase the rassler dad died from a pile driver go wrong. Taken out on a streacher, would die later.

Yep, you'd wonder how the fighters were left in the days of practically unlimited rounds bareknuckle. Less pure blunt force, but without any cushion their faces would be cut up bad.
