I think that's become the popular cliche to parrot, that Jokic is out of shape and can't hang with "better athletes." You don't lead all centers in the NBA in RPM four seasons in a row being out of shape. He's in the best shape of his life now.

Remember as recently as last season when some people said they'd rather have DeMarcus Cousins over Jokic?
People are still in love with raw stats over effectiveness.
Truth bro.
They hang with me...after the game...for wine. That’s all that matters. It’s just basketball.

Except they did.
Exactly. Don't understand coming to the opposite conclusion.
Spurs Vs Nuggets series was up for grabs with one minute left in Game 7...
Their stupidity was always gonna do them in though. It’s exactly why I had no confidence in them. Just look at how the series played out (Pops coaching, overrelying on Mills, DeRozan and LA going soft in big moments. They’re lucky Denver was inexperienced coming in.
And T. Craig has 4 pts in 36 mins WTF
If D. White was actually present and not hidden somewhere scared for his life in game 7 we would be a lock to the WCF.
I thought so too, til someone reminded me that Lillard/McCollom who are otherwise containable would tear up our midgets' (Mills, Forbes) anuses.
Spurs deserve the shame. Jokic ain't even in great shape and Jamaal Murray is sub par in everything other than pic n' roll at the top of the arc.
That is the worst-coached series I've ever seen. Pop was crap.
In Game 7 he trotted out the same failed Forbes and Mills lineups and expected sh** to change in Denver? That game wouldn't have even been close
if Denver didn't suck so bad and try to give us the game anyways.
Spurs had a 1-0 lead and a 19 point lead in game 2 and somehow lost the series. It doesn't matter how good the players are. If you don't have a competent head coach, you don't win.
True. Also, some were saying Jokic was over-rated, LOL.
Nuggets suck. Period. The fact they beat the Spurs is an embarrassment to us all.
Just a sad reminder of how far we've fallen.
That would make me not go to a single game for the first time in years. Wouldn’t even be interested in watching on TV
Who cares? Durant carries and travels every play. You can put 100 players on him.
How is going to the last 30 seconds of Game 7 'not hanging?'![]()
Spurs were a Jekyll and Hyde team this year. That's why they were real inconsistent. The nuggets series reflected that. They could have easily beaten the blazers but could have also easily lost to them. Bottom line this team just wasn't good enough to go far in the playoffs.
I thought they would take game seven against Denver but be an easy out in the next round against Portland.
This is why it made no sense cheering Spur wins so they make the playoffs. they were not going far and most likely out in the first round.
It would have been better in the lottery and with a high draft pick.
Not saying the Spurs should have tanked but cheering the Spurs on to make the playoffs was stupid.
Is Jokic's 65 minutes most ever in a NBA game?
Didn't the Spurs have a big ot game in the season? I forget who it was, but obviously this thread is a little too cute.
But I agree with the sentiment that the Spurs didn't need/deserve to win because they are a flawed team. Wake me up if Houston wins game 5. I'm a 76ers fan now
One of the real hurts of being a spur fan, is that Robinson and Duncan deserved to win more but didn't. Deozan and aldy are nice folks but not at that level.
Pop would have found ways to choke a playoff series no matter the opponent...
