thanks for the article TimVP. I think after one year in the G-League Samanic could crack the rotation. He should improve his body, strength, conditioning and 3-point shooting this season
Good article
I honestly think this is the 1st time I'm looking forward to the G-League. I can't wait to check out their games and see how the young players are working out. Luka has a lot of potential and hopefully he works hard and listens to the coaching staff

it may come to have a near impact, which would be good, but he will never be as good a defender as Siakam imo.
That's a waaay too early take, tbh.
Let Pop and the coaches get after him to toughen him up. Let him get in the gym. And let him get around his teammates and learn the Spurs ways.
And let him get out of his teens.
You realize most people don't reach their peak until they are like 26-28, and then maintain that until their early 30s? He could have 6 or 7 years of growth before he even maxes out skillwise.
Great read and nice clips.
Got to give RC some credit with restocking this team with some talented young players. In terms of Luka, once the game slows down for him, he's going to be a handful for opposing bigs to deal with on the open court and the perimeter. That's one advantage of the Spurs program has over a lot of teams is their development program so I expect Luka to reach his full potential although not sure what that is yet.
Damn that was a good read LJ. Thanks for posting. He reminds me of Manu. Just bigger. Obviously Manu is a lot to live up to and I'm not saying he is the next Manu, but his court awareness, his somewhat reckless, but somewhat under control style of play, and fearlessness reminds me of #20.
And desire... He doesn't seem to behave like an Alpha when on the court... He disappears a lot
His moodiness is what is worrisome.
Hopefully it's just his young age.
Passing wise, yeah, good thing is he's got the court vision. But, i'm kinda not having that as something special. He's an Euro. It's in his blood.
Him and Keldon seem to be hitting it off and Keldon is always joking and having fun hopefully that rubs off on him and he make that leap to be the player we think he can be. One thing that I like is that our draft picks are matching to team needs for young guys I like White, Murray, Keldon, Luka, and Poodle that should be a great defensive team for sure.
Is he going to be a draft and stash??
Is this a parody account of some sort?
I was just thinking 'moron', but sure, we can go with parody account.
Great article. Samanic's passing immediately jumped out at me on highlight films after he was drafted. Nice to see that translating immediately on the court for Austin. I'm very excited to see what he will bring to this team long term. Samanic, Lonnie, Murray, White, Poetl, KJ... whew! All of these guys have shown enough already to be excited about their potential. I can't imagine any fewer than two or three of these guys becoming borderline stars or better, and the rest are shaping up to be high quality role players. Future looks bright!
Great article, my favorite to date. You should write more player breakdowns, both positive and negative. You should also think about doing a Spurs podcast, maybe with guests, trhere’s no decent one.
I dont know how you can try to be an alpha when Lonnie's hogging the ball 98% of the time when he's on the court.
am i the only one that see a Tom Gugliotta clone?
You mean like Kawhi against the Clips in 2015 or OKC in 2016?
Pops coaching and LMA's complete disappearance after the first couple games is what lost those series... The first year Kawhi was allowed to be the Alpha over LMA, he was destroying the greatest regular season team ever assembled, single-handedly
The kid has so many tools and size and speed at 19, I think he can be a star in the league with some development. The other two draftees look good in Summer League, but I don't see any "Star" potential and high ceiling there.
Would love to see Manu coach him on handle, passing and Euro Step. I see a lot of that "let it all hang out" at ude in Luka.
Nephew was handed the ball in the 2014 Finals, and it was never taken from him. LMA wasn't even a Spur until the summer AFTER the Clippers melt down.
No Kawhi wasn't given the ball in the 2014 finals... He took it... The first several games he was the 4th option until he started to go nuts in the following games...
Secondly, no LMA wasn't a spur... Which is why I separated the two... Coaching cost us the series VS the clippers because Pop couldn't figure out how to defend the Blake Griffin CP3 pick and roll... Kawhi was guarding neither... That was the killer for us...
And when LMA came, HE was the focal point of our offense until 2017,when Kawhi took over... LMA completely fell off a cliff after his first couple great games VS OKC... dude had some incredibly bad games, and OKC was destroying us on the boards... Both LMA and David west were getting plunked by OKC and their big guys, and Pop didn't adjust
He's 19, stupid.
Pop had to get on his case to do more and that’s when he was more aggressive but nice try on twisting the facts. Go be a clipper fan. Nobody cares for your takes.
