I believe that he wants to avoid a trap.
Defense counsel in some future indictment could argue that his remarks were out of order, etc.
Trump can’t be charged,
thus he cannot defend himself in a court of law should the OSC announce that he really is a Bad Man.
it avoids poisoning the well for some future indictment.
