When I was a kid, we had 3 cats and my parents are hoarders (goes hand in hand right) so we had a rat / mouse problem at the house. One morning, a nice rat liver was laid outside the front door from one of our cats. Another morning a nice, bloody rat heart or liver was laid out on the kitchen floor. Cats are awesome hunters

If left in the water for hours, the rats and mice will tire and drown. Water has to be deep enough so they can't touch bottom.

Otherwise take the bucket out to the car, and run hose from the the exhaust

When I used to driver some Uber, the near East side, downtown to ATT center, was nearly always surging in the evenings (demand not met) because drivers wouldn't risk driving there, so Uber was paying extra to drivers who would go there.
