    Dems platform: Eat your vegetables
So they want you to be healthy?

Odd thing to be mad at them about, Darrin.

Shipping, energy and agriculture are the top polluters by a fair bit.

Consumer choice moves the needle, but is only part of the story. Putting the focus there is a smokescreen.

Have a look at the candidates' plans, starting with this one. Nothing about straws or hamburgers in there.

Not sure the change is quite so dramatic as you imagine, I'm not ideologically doctrinaire.

Ron Paul was a sincere anti-imperial candidate, the only one I've seen in my lifetime. Principled and consistent, if also deeply flawed (yeah, he's a racist)

Bernie Sanders wants to do good stuff for ordinary Americans. Health care, debt jubilee, greenhouse gas remediation, criminal justice reform, real that could make people's lives better.

It's not free , it's good . Like Ron Paul, Sanders has been principled and consistent over the years. I think he has the personal integrity to try to do what he says he'll do.

Okay. I disagree about his policies of course but he is genuine.

I think Warren is a bit of a poser though. Maybe slightly left of Obama were she to take office imo.

It'd be nice to see a President who faces the public and uses power to benefit people who don't have any.

Isn't that the supposed point of public service, why it's eminently laudable and respectable? The republic and the people can be better or worse, why not try to make them both better?

I can agree with that; Wall Street seems to prefer her for some reason.

So tell us, Dale, what has DJT done with power to benefit people who don't have any? What good has he done for people?

Surely power can't be all about ing up your enemies, can it?

Their 401k's have made massive gains. Your's as well, but, of course you won't stipulate to that.
Gas prices are low. I saw 2.39 in a shot in SC today.
    The DOW is at 27k.

& of course ing up our enemies is right under the 401k which is on top. I like him ing 'em up. They ed "me" long enough.

    Thread:

DJT has little to do with any of that macroeconomic stuff, and it's courting failure to make gas prices and the stock market the measure of success, these are subject to change with swiftness.

But, that how the vast majority of Americans measure their happiness, their contentment: price per gallon, 401k yield, & a rising DOW. Sure, they're aware that it is fleeting, so, when it does appear like it has they cherish it, gather it in with both hands, tote it up, keep track, salt it away and watch for it to go away, because they know it will. That's life.

It's here now, right now, gas is low, 401k high, DOW high...they're happy NOW. NOW is all any of us have. NOW. People at 20 don't think like that. People 40+ think like that. People at 20 are starting to think like that.

Your premise is that increasing the power of the Federal govt can benefit the people. I disagree with the premise.

I never premised that. Trump is of course going for the short game, but, is trying his damnest to stretch it, sure, to get re-elected, but, if he can spread the wealth at the same time, so much the better.

He paints the picture thru Twitter, thru television. "Here's what I'm doing. Here's how it worked. See? Look at your 401k and you know it." Well, of course friend & foe ain't gonna acknowledge the 401k windfall. People don't like to admit they're making money. It's human nature, but, by God, they know he's President when it's coming in like this. And they'll remember when they're standing in that booth next November.

Bush, Obama, the rest were too dignified. Trump has nary dignity and that's fine with (us).

He gets an honest kick out of thinking about the average American totin' up those 401k numbers. I'm positive of that.

We disagree about that for sure.

Capitalism is amoral; the state is the only power capable of kicking it in the nuts when it's going off the rails.

If commerce subsumes the state, god help us. It'd be as bad or worse than whatever statist bogeyman you have in mind.

Sanders isn't a Stalinist, he's a social democrat. That the richest country in the history of the world can't figure out how to provide education, economic oportunity and healthcare on a par with other rich nations is inexcusable.
