Poetl needs to stay out of foul trouble. We missed about 15 open looks against LA last time. Move some of Gay’s minutes to White, beat them with small ball, and let’s go!!

Pop doesn’t always make great in-game adjustments, but he’s pretty good with in-series adjustments which is what this feels like. I think we take at least one of these final two laker games.

    Possible tier 1: Keldon
    Possible tier 2: White, Lonnie
    Possible tier 3: Murray, Vassell
You still underrate Murray and I would say overate Lonnie although he is doing better this year.

Wes Matthews has always been a Spurs Killer with his days in Dallas and Portland. Spurs should’ve known not to give him open shots.

I agree. But I would put Murray at possible Tier 1 with his possible triple double at his size and type of play.
I have high hopes on Vassell as possible Tier 1. He is tge most complete player I’ve seen as a rookie. And his demeanor and the way he worked his way up, refusing to be red-shirted. Keldon/Murray/Vassell is the next big 3. Luka I’m hoping he be at least tier 2. Lonnie the microwave, and White the borderline tier 1/2 because of his unselfishness.

I'm happy with LA being out tbh. The more reps Jakob gets early to try and learn to stay out of foul trouble, the better. He needs to get tested a ton, especially against a player like AD.

And if he doesn't learn better to find that out now so the Spurs can move on from him.

Yup. It's a valid concern when you're starting C can't stay on the floor.

2017 when Pop told DG and Kawhi to guard harden with a super exaggerated "hands up" posture needs to be Jak in the post all game every game. Gets caught with his hands at or around waist level way too often when he needs to be standing as tall as possible.

One little fundamental change that is going to make or break the longevity of his career.

Coach Pop says Derrick White will play and he'll be on a minutes restriction. He'll come off the bench

Yeah I expected Derrick to come off the bench and be on a minutes restriction but hopefully not to long...

Strangely enough Keldon went from not playing at all to pre-season to just starting right off the bat...guess is the nature of his injury vs Whites surgery...

Besides his toe surgery, his plantar fas. warrants a minute restriction regardless.

Given Poeltl's status, talent, etc..., compared to AD, i don't see how he can ever stay out of foul trouble when guarding him.

Ewwbanks played some exciting minutes. That block on Harrell that ended with Demar dunk. He plays with motor, something I cannot say with Aldridge.
Ewbanks missed about 3-4 easy bunnies at the rim and gave up 5 points in a timespan of 7 seconds by the end of the 3rd quarter. I don’t what you were watching.

I expect him and Poeltl will split the 48
min evenly, Jakob can’t stay on the floor longer than 25 minutes

The problem is whether its the Lakers or the Grizzlies he's a foul machine. If he never cleans that up he can never be a viable starting Center in the NBA.

I think had the returns been reversed, Johnson would almost certainly be coming off the bench, and White probably would've started. And yeah, it makes sense, because if you're only going to have Derrick for 18-20 minutes, you can't really stagger him with Murray and DeRozan. Just let him back up both Murray and DeRozan and maybe close if he's playing well. They could literally give him Vassell's minutes tonight and just spread them out differently.

Honestly, the Spurs shouldn't put size on Davis. Use Poeltl to help on AD once he makes a move, but put Keldon or DMDR on him if the plan is still to start small. Davis is going to score anyway. There's no reason to foul him.

Advanced statistics show Aldridge has been a net negative this season, but the Lakers are the one team where he can actually be an asset for us, given that he allows us to match up better with their size and length.

    Let's do this yo.
Here's to a good game with no significant injuries, good things from the young guys and good lessons to be learned.
    And... hopefully a win!
