    Why would be trade Lyles for guys that have multiple years on their contracts and are bench warmers? Better to just let Lyles expire and have the cap space and the roster spots.

    Yeah, so apparently it was almost Melli and Iwundu to the Spurs with Lyles to the Mavs ... but the Spurs pulled out. Probably realized Iwundu's minimum contract next season was guaranteed

    I haven't looked at the specifics but I'm pretty sure the Spurs have enough room under the luxury tax to waive Criss even if Aldridge doesn't give any money back. Criss is on a minimum contract and the season is more than half over ... so, yeah, the Spurs should have enough room already.
