Have to admit, I got a little bummed thinking about the Spurs while watching Milwaukee close out Atlanta. We definitely don't have anyone to compare to Giannis, but honestly, I don't even know if we even have someone that compares to Middleton or Holiday either at this point. D White is in the conversation if he can stay healthy. Sadly, I'm just not onboard with the Lonnie Walker hype. He's put up three seasons of incredibly bad numbers, and his assist, rebound, steal, BPM, VORP, and Defensive Rating numbers have all gotten slightly worse rather than even marginally better. His 3pt% last year was the lowest of his three seasons. I wish I could say I see a future productive role player, but I just don't...
I'm still pulling for him and probably will until he leaves the Spurs, but next season is do-or-die for him. If he doesn't put it together, I can definitely see not only the coaching staff lose hope on him, but other players on the rotation jumping him, which would destroy his already-fickle confidence. Especially if the Spurs were to draft yet another guard, like Duarte... Someone's gotta go to unclog the rotations, and he might be the odd man out. I can only hope he realizes this and puts in the necessary work on his game, both mental and physical.
