I find it so funny that the posters who have been asking the Spurs to tank for years are suddenly upset that we have built a great tank squad and want to blame PATFO for it.

Having Pop at the helm doesn't change anything...let him get his record and we can still get a top 5 pick.

Dex, don't you realize that Pop and the FO are to blame for everything that's not perfect with the Spurs?? But, Pop and the FO also had nothing to do with the 5 championships...that's the players, particularly Timmy, doing their thing. Pop was a bystander for the 5 championships and now he's screwing it all up. Heck, Tim would have more rings than Bill Russell were it not for Pop. - blue font

I'm a little nervous about this group hitting 26 wins, TBH. That will require some pretty good coaching by Pop to get there. We're an injury or two away from a 15 win season.

Fortunately Murray, White, and Walker have never had injury concerns.....

He already has. He's pretty much like what Kobe was for the Lakers from '13-16. He's out there for his own glory.

Knowing Pop if ppl pretended we actually wanted him to stay and it was believable he’d probably retire. He is enjoying losing at this point. There is no pressure on him to perform. I guess he has earned that.

Keep chasing that dream, buddy. The train left 5 years ago.
The "dream" that the foundation Timmy Duncan built of team ball is above individual glory seeking. That pursuing a Championship is the goal.
    That is what I prefer.

You prefer Popped putting himself above team. Can't spin your way out that.

He's definitely in it for himself with him chasing the wins record. It's been about Pop since the summer of '18 when he traded Kawhi. That's when the focus wasn't on winning anymore but more so Pop pleasing his ego and going on his quest to chase the all time wins record. Whenever this era is over I'm going to call 2018-Pop's retirement the Pop Era.

I thought you didn't want the Spurs to win this season?

Are we supposed to tank? Or are we supposed to win a championship?

    Make up your mind.

He has a chance to cement his legacy as the BEST REGULAR SEASON COACH OF ALL TIME, on top of already being the best overall coach of all time (regular season+playoffs), 5 championships, 3 COY, and now an Olympic gold.
Red A 9-11 does not count?
Phil Jackson 9 or 10 in 20 years?
By all means give us the Pop vs Phil head to head. Pop got assowned in 2004 after being up 2-0.

COY? WGAF about some media award. Real voting: Spurs: To you, what was Greg Pops best coaching year? (spurstalk.com)

It’s not that he won COY, it’s that he did it 3 times, AND KEPT HIS JOB. There was a string of years where every COY winner lost their job within a year or two.

I seem to be in the minority here, but I think Pop has earned the right to keep coaching to and beyond the record. In effect, as long as he wants.
So he can go shoot someone and coach ?
It is what have you gone for the spurs lately. He has sucked the last 3-4 years.
they were about ready to fire mike bucks coach had he not gotten to finals.

Wow that sure bests Red A's 9-11 and Zenny Phils 11-20.

In the Celtics era, you had to win two playoff series to hoist the trophy. Two. Spurs did that nine times under Pop’s leadership. Nine, why does that number sound familiar?

Phil went to two separate teams, Chicago and LA, that had already been to the conference finals, and had one superstar with another All Star already developing into a superstar. He ran an offense that he didn’t understand, and was lost any time Tex Winter wasn’t on the bench, retiring shortly after Tex hung it up for good. He never developed a draft pick or a coach worth a . He had a very narrow track to success, maximized it, and punched out when he couldn’t find another ready made situation.

You're claiming a Popped team that made it past the 2nd round is equal to a Red A Celtics Championship.
That is some serious false equivalency.
