Family Guy is a very funny show, but I would never call it intelligent. It basically takes the Simpsons family formula, speeds it up, and throws in an assortment of pop culture references and crude gags.
But I still like it... I just like South Park better, particularly if we're talking about political jokes.
Of course, what do I know, I watch both shows...

Trey Parker and(can't remember the other creators name) put together some funny . i like orgazmo, team america, AND south park.
And , if we're so concerned with crudeness... Doesn't it nother any of you prudes that Peter Griffin's nose and chin were drawn to look like a and balls?
The Simpsons from season 1 to about season 5 was the best writing for any cartoon show in the history of cartoon shows.
Still can'tand probably never be matched.
Then it turned into what Family Guy is now but on a "Disneyfied" level.
If you can find a copy, rent "Cannibal! The Musical" and thank me later.

You must have missed out on a lot of presidential jokes 10 years ago.
To that same degree, every joke ever has been reused and rehashed 10,000 times.
