The idiots on the right will argue that the number of lives saved by the law outweigh the one-off instances of complications caused by the law, so net positive results. The problem with that is that any woman who wants to abort isn't going to raise a healthy baby just because the law says so.

If it was me or you deciding to abort a fetus, that's one thing. The host has the right to say what happens with the processes of her own body. I think too often the argument from the religious right relies on the viewpoint that a 3rd party is making that call. It's an intimate decision, the travesty is taking that away from the mother because of how you believe your feelings trump her natural rights. I couldn't even imagine a republican male allowing the federal or state government to dictate the choices they make with their own bodies. You're talking about folks who say "come take it from my cold dead hands" about something they say is their right to have, yet making a decision about your own body somehow isn't yours to make.
