I feel sorry for LMA. He rightly assumed we could continue to roll for the end of the Big 3 era and into the tag team era with neph.

neph turned into a biatch and people got injured.

and he 100% carried this franchise for years longer than we deserved, which unfortunately just extended the rebuild as PATFO tried aimlessly to continue winning. I was late to team tank. And that's because I appreciated the effort LMA gave us.

Can't say it was unfortunate considering we got Wemby and by the time Leonard started his gotry it was too late to tank for Doncic.

LMA can blame Kawhi. He got his shots at rings with Timmy, and even once Duncan left the team was a contender until Kawhi and Uncle Dennis blew the entire thing up.

DeMar proved he was not on the same level as a healthy Kawhi, he and Aldridge simply couldn't operate in the same space and the rest is history.

LMA didn't get a good season of Duncan. Duncan was done after the all-star break during LMA's first season with the Spurs. A good season of Duncan would have been him playing at a high level for the whole entire season and the playoffs. LMA didn't get that.

Well, unless LMA could get in a DeLorean and turn back time, he was never going to get that. He signed when he signed, and IMO any season with Duncan was a good season even if he wasn't in MVP form.

That said, he still got two 60+ win seasons with the Spurs and they came up short in in the playoffs.

Then Kawhi left and that was that, which is the entire point I was making.

We need an alpha dog shooter point guard even more than we needed a big small forward for a few years, and we needed a big small forward badly.

The good news is, the Spurs players suck so bad and their only two good players have enough positional flexibility that the team can truly go BPA and not worry about it.

I honestly think that the spurs had a deal lined up with Orlando last year to take Cason Wallace until presti sniped him. Would explain why they panic drafted Jett Howard with and Hawkins still on the board. He would have honestly been the perfect fit and would have started his development early in the process.
