the swap next year will be useless. Spurs will most likely get a higher draft slot than the Hawks.
This is off topic, but I think this alone should be a milestone for GM's to keep their jobs: if you trade for a swap, you better damn well build a team that results in that swap conveying, or you get fired (the exception being something like if you finish 25 and the other team is 29... in which case, it doesn't matter). But if you are trading for far out swaps, but you don't get your team out of the lottery... you should lose your damn job. (note: I don't think this will happen with us. Our natural pick will be in the low 20s next year and ATL's will be in the teens. IMO... but we still have a whole offseaon for that to change)

Remember when these Hawks picks were like the greatest picks in the nba? Come Wednesday they may have done nothing but get us a backup center

"You can't trade these hawks picks for a real nba player. They are a gold mine. They can be used to get us a player who will play 13 minutes a night." Spurs talk poster probably in 2022

low 20s would mean we are a top 6 team in the West. I don't see that happening. Almost every team in the west will get better next season.

Top 6 in the west should be our expectation for next season, IMO. I'm not necessarily predicting we will or will not achieve that... but if I were RC or Pop that is the expectation I'd have (though they probably don't).

true, but you won't get there with the current roster, a rookie back up 5 and no capable starting 4

That's a different conversation. Separate what I'm talking about from your personal opinions about the current Spurs.

My take is that if you trade for far out swaps, and then don't put your team in a position for those swaps to convey... you should be fired. So if that happens... then yeah, Brian should be fired (as it will also mean he's missed the playoffs yet again).

My only caveat to that is if our pick ends up 21 or something but the Hawks is 26... that's a different matter, that is not a fireable offense IMO. But if the Hawks are picking 14 but we are picking 8 (like this year, pre-lotto)... then yeah, start clearing our your office buddy.
