So Duncan aint gonna be around in 5 or 6 years?
"I'm very old," Duncan said, smiling. "I was looking at it before the game and I'm something like 9 1/2 years older than (Howard). That's crazy. ... "He doesn't look like a 19-year-old. He's got so much promise. I'm just glad I'll be out of the league when he's peaking."

High praise...

i wonder if he extend his contract when his max is out?
Never break up the core of a championship team unless you have to. (Jerry Krause, this means you!)
Even if it's a great deal on paper, and even if you think it's a mortal lock that the Spurs would be getting a franchise player who will carry them through 2015, you still don't do it.
There's no way they're as close to winning rings in '06 after the trade, and when you're where the Spurs are, that's job one.
Timmy is correct, Exstatic is way off.
Tim would look if we all judged him on the one game against Washington.
Somebody mark GIG's disease ridden words.
better team player yes, but statistically on, no one fills a stat sheet like these two, no wonder why they are overrated and havnt won anything yet
Trading Parker for howard alone is ing re ed.
How many PGs in this league are as dependable as Tony? Only a handful, and he has just as much upside still, as Dwight does. Tony is going to rule the PGs in years to come... why give that away...
Gezzzzes.
And I dont wanna think about Duncan not being around.
Not until he gets us a prototype understudy...................... like Howard.
Like DRob did for Duncan.
Like we should somehow get before Duncan retires.
Bosh won't resign with Toronto. Maybe A deal could possibly, just maaaybe happen with Rasho or Nazr, or both.
I can't imagine us not having a dominant big man. I came from the early years DRob generation.
Help...
help...
.......
lol^^
Dude you sound like me.
Bosh or Howard taking over for Duncan would be cool with me.
More Bosh, cause he has a sick jumper already.
The Orlando announcers noticed that TD is bigger than Howard. I thought Howard was closer to 7 feet than 6'10. He's like 6'9. I guess I never really noticed TD has the physical advantage against Dwight.
Sorry, but not even Toronto would walk into that one.
Rasho/Nazr can fetch a Kurt Thomas/Cato/Malik not Bosh/Dwight/Shaq/Okafor![]()
post of the day. And who's gonna run the point and handle the ball in critical playoff games??? Beno???
your proposing trading a top 5 starting backcourt for a project. too muchfor u
Two words about Howard. Scary potential.. This dude is going to be a monster and will terrorize us along with the rest of the league in a few years..
If the spurs are smart they should go after this guy once he becomes a free-agent.
I dont think it works out - He'll ready for re-up in a couple of years and Spurs can't even think of that (unless they want to package Tony and Manu)
In a couple of years the Spurs lose all sorts of salaries. Finley, Barry, Oberto, Horry. IMO, Dwight is the next dominating force in the league. I would think long and hard about giving up Manu and Tony and Rasho to dump salary. I'd think of going with Van Exel, Finely, Bowen, Howard, and Duncan. With Barry, Beno, Nazr, Horry, and Oberto off the bench.
I could just be crazy but we won't know for 3 years.
He's no Amare
You're right, he should be better.
Do you really think it would give the Spurs as good a chance to win this year?
Or are you saying you'd be willing to risk not winning rings now to have a chance to be better later?
Care to elaborate?
They would still have a good chance of winning this year, but not better than they have now. However, long-term the move would keep the spurs at the very top of the NBA. Tim and Dwight like David and Tim could win les with the right veteran supporting cast. However, Dwight will eventually own the league.
