IIRC, the whole reason this Kawhi drama with the Spurs blew out of proportion in the first place was because RC didn’t want to give him the supermax because of concerns about his knee, saying he should prove he can stay healthy for a season first. This angered Uncle Dennis and that’s why they demanded a trade.

Is it too late to add Edey to the team? It seems like he might help them out, potentially quite a bit.

I thought France would probably win.

But then I looked at this US roster.

Then I looked at this US roster again.

Then I looked at the international three point line. Bad

But at the end of the day, I think the US wins this.

people are just remembering the last olympic squad where guys like jerami grant, keldon johnson, javale mcgee, and zach lavine made the squad (keldon and mcgee replaced Breadley Beal and Kevin Love)

the only bigs the US had were 6'9 Adebayo, 6'6 Draymodn Green, and JaVale McGee

this roster is simply a different animal. the US will stomp

Bookmarking this. We'll revisit this eventually, regardless of what the outcome is.
PS: I believe Canada, France and Australia can upset USA in a good day. Serbia too.

if by a good day you mean the entire US team oversleeps and forfeits the game, then sure

Sorry, you're usually a good poster but this is totally clueless. In a single elimination game you have a cold shooting night and your rival gets hot and you're out. I can't remember how many times people have fallen for this 'sum of the parts' fallacy. It doesn't hold up. Not saying USA won't win, but to pretend it's a given it's just not in touch with reality.

Nah you’re just conflating this with tournaments like the fiba World Cup where the us sends their c team

That was not a scrub team. They had three All NBA guards, Ant, Brunson, and Hali plus All Stars like Ingram, Banchero and JJJ. The important thing to remember is that the teams that got gold and silver barely had any NBA talent at all. They just played a better brand of basketball.

They can simultaneously be the C team and not scrubs.

    Good points.

Altho i agree they will not stomp and not win every game comfortably.
There will be at least one game where they sweat.

Simply the US prima donna mentality. They will get outworked one game but talent, and as you pointed out C PF talent will make a difference.
Will be fun to see how Wemby and Goober do vs US.

    predictable blowout

but but serbia and other countries have such good chemistry and run great sets!
but but fiba rules are different. the talent gap wont matter

literally curry's first olympics at age 36 and its just business as usual for him. if the US had sent their a-team in recent tournaments, this narrative that the world has caught up would have been dead long ago
