I'm down with another year of Mamu!
His synergy with Wemby was great, offensively and rebounding-wise to end the season.

Nah, his defense held him back
What about the rest of the team's defense?

Mamu in games when he played more than 20 minutes:
    11.4/10/2 on 47/37/76 with 1.3 turnovers in 26mpg.

Jeremy is obviously a better defender, but if he doesn't get his together on offense, Mamu should get way more minutes this season.

Just because you renounce their rights doesn't mean they're gone. They also renounced Mamu after all.

The bigger issue is the lack of roster spots. I think Barlow and Duke can still be brought back for one more 2-way though.

I dont think Barlow, even if allowed to sign another 2way, makes much sense. If with how good he looked you didn’t prioritize him over Bassey due to fit with Wemby, then keeping him around vs someone you think fits Wemby better just doesn’t make a lot of sense to me.

Since Bassey and Mamu signed minimum contracts, does the league pay part of the salary and if they do how much counts against our salary cap ?

Tells you anything you need to know about the offseason, that resigning Mamu to a one year deal is probably the best move of the summer

From what I remember of the CBA, the league pays the difference between whatever the veteran minimum a player signs for and the rookie minimum, so as not to discourage teams from signing vets. Also, the vet mins count towards the cap/tax/aprons but teams can sign players to vet mins at any time regardless of cap/tax/apron status.

Anyone, if I have any of this wrong please chime in.

Pure Haterade. The best moves were signing CP and trading a player on a two way for Harrison Barnes and an unprotected first round swap.

Doesn't seem there is a ton of interest in Barlow anywhere in the league. Wonder if his personality is an issue? Or something else? Just seems odd that the Sidy Cissoko's of the league have roster spots over him.

Hopefully all of them catch on somewhere else or go over to Europe. I think Duke Jr. and Barlow are past the point of needing development time in the G-League (maybe Barlow more so than Duke).

If Barlow had more perimeter skills or would've played better beside Wemby, then he easily would've taken either Bassey or Mamu's spot.

Sucks that he's the one that's leaving when he has shown the most growth between the 3.

Teams aren't going to prioritize an end-of-the-bench guy, but that doesn't mean he can't sign with someone closer to training camp.

I could easily see a team like Philadelphia or Milwaukee bringing him in for training camp and keeping him for depth.

i dno. barlow was kind of abusing gleague centers who arent as big/athletic as the varsity ones. i dont know how much he grows there

someone has to either be ok with him being an undersized NBA center, or if he does go back to gleague, he has to go back and play perimeter oriented to build that part of his game up, such that he can survive as a 4 in the big leagues

watching him last year, he was better defensively than Collins was, but he always seemed to be ALMOST able to alter/block shots. ultimately... dude's undersized

    (Last summer):

Oh, I definitely don't want CP3. He's a diva and an asshole who's won nothing, and would be an awful influence in the locker room.

He’s a loser, and has never really been known as a mentor type.

Then Barnes isa stopgap who doesn't move the needle, Gone in a year or two or at the next deadline. He changes nothing for the Wemby era. People will even forget he played here.

If anything, adding those two vets beyond their prime could indicate they believe in the current core they want to help develop with more experience, which would be really worrying.

the first round swap is fine but like all the rest, virtuality, specially with their bad draft record these last few years and if it is to get another guy who can't shoot that they will "mold" into whatever they think they can, or If it's to pass on players like Lauri because it's too expensive.

But we know how it works, every pick spurs make is a good pick... until it's not., every player spurs sign is a good signing... until it's not, every prospect or reclamation prospect spurs get has great upside... until he has not, and every move spurs make is a good move... until it's not. Some poeple systematically try to analyse what spurs do in a feel good, positive way that necessarly favorizes the team, whatever it is and its opposite.

Personnally, I just try to stay factual, wait to see how things develop, look around and not bet too much on future because you're never really sure of what it will be and there are things you can't control. But if you don't praise everything spurs do, or don"t,... you're a hater.

    Yeah man, you're spot-on.

It's not like the Spurs FO have hit home-round picks that they developed into being able to play in the closing lineup of an Olympic game. Or developed into All-Stars - however fringe. Not like they've made relatively consistently positive moves that have the Spurs greatly positioned for the upcoming years, better than a majority of the league, who mostly would rather be in our shoes than theirs.

We should actually start doubting them more, tbh.
